The offseason trend of teams giving up pennies for really good players continues...

It is too! Rockies owner supposedly told FO that they’re not allowed to deal with us.

If the Rockies are eating $50M that means the remaining contract is 6/$150M... what Springer just signed for.

That’s a fucking steal. Don’t think that puts them over the tip to go all the way but now they have Goldschmidt and Nolan. Deadly combo

Yeah, Arenado >> Springer. Depending on the prospects it could definitely be a steal.

Cubs ownership has told their FO they can have more money to work with this off-season. I expect this will put an end to the Bryant rumors. Guessing full steam ahead to retain Turner. That would be equate to a pretty mediocre offseason if the moves are essentially, bring back Turner and Treinen, plus two bullpen flyers while losing Kikè, Joc and Baez.

you can look at it that way or you can look at Price like a nice add and Gray and the young guns being ready to contribute and getting their chance
of course if Bauer signs that all goes out the window and i sort of thought some of our young pitching was going after a third baseman
JT has to get done now
also we did sign Knebel, Morrow, Nelson, Stewart and Kahnle for 22
plus 22 is going to be a big deal and Baez was addition by substraction

They're counting on upticks from people like Gavin Lux, Chris Taylor, Edwin Rios, etc. But yeah, this team might not be as good as last year. Kiké's versatility and defense is gonna be missed and there might be a problem in LF when Pollock inevitably gets hurt.

I hope Rosenthal and Nightengale are dead wrong about the package coming back to the Rockies for Arenado. They are saying a young lefty in Austin Gomber and then guys like Luken Baker, Jhon Torres, Jake Woodford, and Angel Rondon. NONE of those 4 are in anyone's top 100. In the Cardinals Org the top 3 are in the full 100. The highest of the jokers mentioned is Jhon Torres at #9. MGT could have beat that hands down starting with Gonsolin and adding from there. Sucks that Colorado MGT said no to engage with the LA. The rumor is that Arenado can opt-out after this year. I really hope he does and the dodgers sign him outright.

The gods are conspired against us...
What comes of winning the division for multiple times in row.
With and only one championship out of all of it, and the bastards say, to a man, " yeah, you finally won, but in a shortened and screwed up year...big deal".
For me, a repeat this year will be a high flying glory...they will forever avert their eyes when they behold a Dodger fan.
    i guess there's always Boston.

Yeah, those are the flyers I was talking about with the BP. Huge upside for 3 of those guys this year, but still a huge risks that you certainly can't count on. I have said it plenty here, I love Turner, I just don't know how much more he has left in the tank at this point. It would have been nice to land one of the big 3B, but it really looks like Arenado is the only one getting moved at this point and that certainly wasn't happening with us, while LeMahieu was just such a question mark. It would have been hard for this team to improve a ton, but I would have liked to have seen them acquire just one of the BP arms coming off good seasons since they were getting some cheap deals and the unrealistic scenario of ditching Pollock was basically the only position we could have added an impact bat since they waited 3 whole months to decide the fucking DH thing. There have been a lot of rumors where "the Dodgers are in on" have turned out to be completely untrue, so I wonder how active we truly have been. There is also the very real scenario that the team is excited about Hoese and Busch to the point where they could see them potentially impacting the back half of the season, but that is highly unlikely since they have missed so much in-game reps.

Lux is where any complaints about this offseason can get quickly thrown out the window. He shows up and looks like the dude he was last spring and there's an impact bat filling a position of need that allows Taylor to go to LF and takes AB's away from Pollock potentially in the postseason. This is probably his make or break year as I can not see him limping through another extended MLB stretch and still having a seat at the table a year from now. At least not with us. According to BA, there are some folks with the org that are expressing some concerns with the way he looked last year. Still, his ceiling is a 70 hit tool at 2B/SS, we have not had that out of a 2B and would add that much more length to an already solid lineup.

Kiké is gonna be the weird one. Means Taylor is out there more often, but instead of two versatile RHB's off the bench, he is gonna be replaced with a LHB that everyone seemingly loves. McKinstry is sure going to be interesting to watch as everything I am hearing is this dude is legit and very well could make us forget about Kiké pretty quick. No pressure, kid.

We are throwing a lot of expectations on our farm this season which we really do not know where it is at, but this is what is supposed to set our org apart from the rest. Camp is gonna be a bit more intriguing than usual this year.

Kiké's best asset to us was his personality and energy, not so sure that can be replaced
