    • Dodgers relief pitcher Pedro Baez opened the season on the disabled list with a right wrist contusion, and is currently in extended spring training at the Dodgers’ facility at Camelback Ranch in Arizona. Baez is expected to pitch one inning either Monday or Tuesday, then later in the week join Triple-A Oklahoma City on a rehab assignment. OKC opens its Pacific Coast League schedule at home on Thursday night against Iowa, the first of a five-game series. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the team expected Baez back sometime in the second week of the season, if everything went well. With the new 10-day disabled list, and the ability to backdate opening day DL assignments to March 30, the earliest Baez could be activated is Monday, April 10, when the Dodgers open a three-game series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Man, De Leon had some forearm issues that got him shutdown already. He is currently on the DL and heading to extended ExtST. They think the issue has resolved itself, but man, this dude is starting to show that he may be a big injury risk.

Found the " good breeding" remark interesting. I guess that's the way it was then.
Also interesting that there is a new book on Jackie, and it reveals that Rickey was a hair's width away from putting the total kibosh on playing 42. Wasn't feeling sure at all, as his career was at risk.
A religious guy, he went to his pastor for advice on the correct thing to do, and well..The rest is American history.

I firmly believe they knew it would come, and used him as the main piece to get what they wanted. You could just see it coming...Slick move and all that shit, but may put the end to further highly touted prospect deals for a while.
Actually it was ages ago, and not the Nerds, but didn't they do the same with Gutierrez ? Or maybe it was someone else.

    weird too
because every team does due diligence w/physicals etc
but the fact that his velocity began to tumble was a sign

Yes, to a degree. But when I think of some of the Colletti Jason Schmidt type shit ( not a trade, granted), you wonder if they skipped the MRI entirely. Or how is it possible in this day and age?
There are so many more, too.

The forearm issue is a whole new thing. His velocity was up and down last year, but started to get more consistent at the end of the season so there likely may not have been anything on his end of the year physical. The team also does a beginning of the year one and I am sure if there was anything worrisome, they would not have let him go to the WBC. I don't think the Dodgers saw THIS particular injury coming, but that at his age and though there were flashes of front end stuff, there were just too many inconsistencies and they decided to move him.
I don't necessarily see this one being the end all to future deals, as the last two big ones involving prospects have turned out to be pretty even thus far. Both the Reds and A's are probably pretty satisfied with their returns.

I didn't mean with every team...Just JDL and his landing spot.
I'm an LA fan and want only great things to happen for us...But quite honestly, if I were a team looking at an LAD MiL player, in a proposed deal, I'd be caveat emptoring like a mofo on crank.
