Trevor Story ranked #1 SS in the game by the shredder? Trade value higher than ever now. He gone.

i guess the shredder doesn’t value splits
    .304/.370/.624 at coors
    .250/.315/.445 away
personally i’d take lindor or tatis jr over him, and baez defensively

One year from now Arenado can opt out, right? Either he will sign with LA at that time or he won't. If he does, how will COL ownership feel, knowing that they could've got more in return for him if they dealt with us? And how will they feel seeing Dodgers with both Nolan and the prospects that we would've had to give up. This could work out nicely for us.

It's not hard to see why the Rockies have never won a championship.

They've never even won the division. The people here are fucking fuming though.

Early reports said he was getting another opt-out added into the contract in exchange for waiving his NTC, so he can opt-out after 2021 or 2022. If I had to guess it's more likely he opt-out after 2022 just because that offseason figures to be more normal, although I could see him not opting out at all because his remaining contract is so good.

I get why the Rockies didn't want to trade with us, but if they were going to make this move they might as well go full rebuild and let us bid for Arenado instead of just bending over and taking it from the Cardinals.

Interesting...I was thinking about he three major trades made since last season...
and of the individuals of Betts, Lindor and Arrenado, if you had your druthers, which one would you take on the Dodgers ?
    And why?
I wanted to start a new thread, but haven't a clue any more how to. Don't mention this...too embarrassing.

Man... I still can't believe the Rockies just handed the Cards Arenado. I mean... wow. If he continues to be the guy he has been, now without having to deal with the issues of coming and going from Colorado, that team is gonna have 2 of the best right handed hitters of an era batting back to back with one of the top prospects in the game right there too. They still may not be good in 2021 due to prominent issues elsewhere, but that team could be really interesting a year from now when bad players on decent contracts become FA's and the club doesn't really have any young guys that are too expensive(though a bounce back year from Flaherty could change that). An intriguing storm could brew IF Arenado puts up big numbers while staying healthy AND IF the Cards follow projections which is an under .500 season AND IF say Carlson struggles which causes Arenado to take a look at a Cardinals farm system that may be years away from helping him out. Those things would likely need to align for him to opt out... or he just goes off the fucking rails and is LeMahieu 2.0 with like a 10 WAR in 2021... I do not see that happening at the moment, but if it does, he would have some significant buyers waiting on the other side.

At this current date, it is Betts and it is not even a question. Dude is the second best player in the game, one of the best humans in the game and is still has likely 4 more years of his prime left. You ask me that a year ago today and he was likely 3rd for me with Arenado #1 and that is only due to control for me. Betts is due a lot of money still, but his AAV is pretty reasonable for a superstar player. I would still take Arenado over Lindor after that since the Rockies just decided to pay for more than a quarter of Arenado's remaining contract, meaning you are getting one of the best 3B in the game for under $20m a year where all you gave up were shit prospects and if he opts out after the season or the next it is cause he absolutely balled out. Lindor is 3rd only cause he has the least control. Even if Arenado is really good, the chances of him opting out are slim. Lindor is a FA no matter what and he plays a position that doesn't age as graciously as any of the others do. He's a great player, but you are likely paying more for him on a yearly basis than either of the other two which can always make the last few years of a deal troublesome. Still, couldn't complain really with any of the 3.

It is gonna be Turner and that is it... though him signing elsewhere would likely spice things up.

Hey, we were saying this shit last year on this probably exact day. Not that I see another Betts move happening, but we've had surprises later than this!

It will remain boring until the CBA gets ironed out. No one wants to make a stupid signing, either offer or acceptance, while it’s unclear how everything will pan out, especially with the COVID seasons.

could still see bauer coming here on a 1-2 year deal
his market doesn’t appear to be as rabid as he and his agent had hoped

    per bleacher report...
    • According to MLB Network's Jon Morosi, the Mets are seen as the "current favorite" to sign Bauer. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com noted the Mets "continue to be engaged" with Bauer, but the Los Angeles Dodgers are still in the mix. Per MLB Network's Jon Heyman, New York expects to get an answer from Bauer's camp—regardless of whether he accepts or rejects its offer—within the next 24 hours or so.

I would be upset if signing Bauer precluded us from keeping Corey. Literally the World Series MVP. Just sign him long term instead.
