    Bauer's agent tweeted that we are down to two teams. Reports are flying all over the place:
    • Mets have supposedly offered Bauer a 3 year deal around $100M with an opt out after 1 year. Multiple reports stating the Mets are fairly confident that they're going to land him.
    • Dodgers offer is said to be either one or two years with an AAV north of $36M. No word out of the Dodgers camp, naturally since they don't talk.

    Lol, how is Nightengale employed?

    @BNightengale

    Trevor Bauer and the #Mets have a deal.

    @Feinsand
    Trevor Bauer and the Mets do not have a deal yet, per sources.

    Dodgers are seen as favorites to retain Justin Turner, but the Brewers are rumored to be trying hard to woo him.

    Source: The #Mets have the highest offer to Trevor Bauer as of last night. It's unclear if the #Dodgers plan to restructure their latest proposal as a result.

    Doubt the Dodgers budge....Bauer would be a luxury and we have important guys to extend in the near future.

    I had not heard that said about Turner. Oddly enough though, the Brewers are somehow contenders in that horrific NL Central.

    I have two guesses on the Bauer situation:

    1. He and his agent are pissed off that information about him joining the Mets leaked and they want to announce it on their own terms.

    2. They're holding out hope that the Dodgers come close to the Mets offer and purposely leaked information.

    All in all, I'd be really surprised if he doesn't end up with the Mets. I think he wants to be a Dodger but he's not going to be able to say no to the Mets offer.

    CK, Buehler, Price, Urias, May - that's five, and then Gonsolin... maybe Gray and/or Miller later in the season. Am I missing something? Where does Bauer fit?

    Despite Julio's clutchness as a reliever in the playoffs when we didn't need five starters, I hope they're not thinking of jerking him around this year. I want to see what he can do with 30 starts in a season.

    The best Bauer news today for me would be a Mets signing.

    Heard #Mets set a noon deadline Eastern with Bauer today. Heard the deal has opt outs after 1st 2 yrs. Worth about $40M in year 1 and then again in year 2. Worth less in year 3. Total is between $100M-$110M. Feels like decision is next few hours, 1 way or the other.

    Holy hell...just who do the Mets think Bauer is?

    my guess is they are keeping the Mets bidding against themselves and the Dodgers aren't even close

    we’re past the mets alleged deadline so that means he’s coming to la, right?
    yeah, probably not
    i think diablo is spot on — they’re bidding against themselves
    i had predicted he’d ultimately land here, but now i doubt he does
    then again, hard to do much more than speculate
    my guess is nym is busy adding some perks to the what they’ve already offered, and a deal will be announced between noon and 1pm pacific today

    Honestly, it sounds like the Dodgers interest in Bauer is real. It is somewhat odd that (arguably) the 2 best rotations in baseball are the final two in the mix. I kinda get the Mets, they have new ownership and are trying to make a splash. For the Dodgers they have an overcrowded rotation as it is, so I wonder if a Bauer signing would immediately trigger another move. If it's a short-term deal (1-2 years) I wonder if the plan is to try to move Price? Package Price with a good prospect and we could get a decent chunk of his salary paid.

    If a Bauer signing interferes with our ability to address 3B or to extend Seager and others, then I'm against it. But if we can address all the other needs, then bring it on.

    No such thing as being blocked if you're good enough. Room can be made if you're worth the trouble

    That said, Bauer's heading for the clown show. Perfect fit

    Bauer is trolling people big time

    Released Mets merchandise on his website and then took it down for Dodgers merchandise after Mets fans started freaking out

    Honestly, Gonsolin is ahead of May and Urias. Especially if what we saw during the regular season wasn't a mirage, he's really our #3 and that's due to him being really fucking good. Remember, BA said that they think he showed he's a front of the rotation starter now and was why they named him their rookie of the year. Something I was thinking about last night was that I wonder if they did blow down the walls to get Bauer, if they would then turn and use one of May, Gonsolin or Urias to pair with Ruiz to try and get a Suarez or Ramirez. With guys like Miller and Gray coming, the team may feel comfortable using some of their MLB depth to nab a big piece.

    I was seconds away from writing on here last night something along the lines of, "watch, Bauer is gonna try some LeBron announcement shit..." welp, according to Heyman, that is the plan. None of this gel's with our team philosophy and I can not see us bringing him in. He is almost certainly going to the Mets.

    a Bauer signing would have to trigger a trade that may or may not already be in place
    JT not signing could be for that reason alone
