    Boom

    @JeffPassan
Third baseman Justin Turner’s deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers is for two years and more than $30 million, sources tell ESPN.

Now it's 34 million base with up to 50 million in incentives. That's about 6 million more per season than his projected on field value.

Hey.... I like JT a lot. He's a great guy and I'm happy he's staying in Blue.

But I'm an asshole, so here's the 2017 study I share with my students each year when we discuss the theme of success (when we read Great Gatsby)

The average American earnings annually by age ...
    • 16 to 19 years: $422 weekly/$21,944 annually
    • 20 to 24 years: $525 weekly/$27,300 annually
    • 25 to 34 years: $776 weekly/$40,352 annually
    • 35 to 44 years: $976 weekly/$50,752 annually
    • 45 to 54 years: $975 weekly/$50,700 annually
    • 55 to 64 years: $966 weekly/$50,232 annually
    • 65 years and older: $904 weekly/$47,008 annually

So, most folks earn 2.5 mil between high school work and 64. MLB players make a median 357K before they turning 25 (per FiveThirtyEight) ... not a bad take when most 25 year olds haven't earned half that .... and then there's players like Turner ... who is a millionaire.

So yeah... like I've dickishly repeated here a hundred times... IDGAF if athletes get a paycheck or not. Yeah yeah ... average career is 3 yrs ... yeah yeah. I know. So what.

Turner is bitchen and he's a great dude. He's also already been paid 60+ million over 15 seasons as a pro. I'm not gonna shed any tears for him or the rest.

It's all lining up like I said:

Turner takes a 2 year deal...
    Arenado opts out...
    Universal DH implemented.

    Murderer's row adds another Manson! :D :D

Just putting together a lineup because we're all doing the same thing.

    RF Betts
    SS Seager
    3B Turner
    CF Bellinger
    C Smith
    1B Muncy
    LF Pollock
    2B Lux

    That's disgusting.

Here's a thought, if Belli gets zapped of some power due to the shoulder, they could always flip he and Max

Alright, I honestly did not expect our FO to just blow away the tax like this, but pretty awesome to win it all and then see your ownership open up the vault to try and run it back. It’s not easy to repeat, but they’ve got the pieces in place to do it. Tons of money coming off the books now the next two off seasons so we probably will slide under the tax again and some intriguing talent on the way. Exciting time to be a fan of this team!

If this was 2003-2017, I'd be stoked.

Are you disenchanted with the team or the sport? Because if it's with just the team it's time to get back on board. If it's the sport, well that's a different story. For example, I just can't get back into the NBA after being a lifelong fan. I think they've lost me for good.

Multi year and paid handsomely. Good for the GOAT and good business for LAD

Now if they can just find an option for LF that'll actually contribute in the fall and ditch Pollock. Wouldn't mind Jackie Bradley Jr.'s +glove and +baserunning

Man, if Lux can take the next step this year... could you imagine this offense!?!

I hope he's working his ass off this winter.

I'm thinking Muncy will return to his form of the previous two years with good health.

MLB deadened the ball so some power will be lost by everyone. Unlikely he will lose some because that was his front shoulder he dislocated
