Didn't see that coming at all...

But a 10 year contract for a 31 year old player, even if it is Pujols, is too long. I mean, we did all the calculations for aging players when signing Manny, and the dropoff in production is pretty remarkable at older ages. If that happens with Pujols as well (and let's be honest, he'll move to DH later on), then you basically have to distribute those last 3-4 years of his contract salary to the first 6-7.

what makes the angels impressive is the rotation

    Weav/Haren/Wilson/Santana

but their offense is a bunch of shit with Albert in the middle. if albert struggles like he did in 2011, i'll be smiling (obviously he still has a great season, but he's still 32 and wont have berkman and holiday to help mask things)

Rotation is impressive but their bull pen has been suspect and the closer Walden blew 10+ saves I believe. I mean they signed a 39 year old Latroy Hawkins for crying out loud. Rangers are still the favorites but the Wild card becomes more competitive in the AL. On the bright side we won't have Albert hurting us (other than inter-league) for the next 10 years. Not that it's going to hurt the billionaire Arte, the Angels are tax threshold candidates.

Astros hire Jeff Luhnow as their GM and rejected Logan. Logan seems to get the interviews but never jobs which is great for us but makes me wonder why they won't hire him.

Albert will fill their stadium and sell their junk. That part of the deal is gold in the bank.

I think VRP said this somewhere, i want to give credi where credit is due, but what Albert did to the Cardinals is IMO worse than what Lebron did to the Cavs

if lebron stuck with the Cavs, he has little to no chance to winning anything but Pujols had a great chance with the Cardinals to win... Dude was all about the money

McCourt should feel embarrassed. I know he probably doesn't, but seriously, this is unacceptable.

ned should feel embarassed. He could have gotten us CJ even with a deduction in payroll; The guy wanted to play here and that usually doesn't mean much but if he took less money to be in Anaheim over Florida, i'd bet he'd take slightly less money from the Dodgers over Anaheim

I agree. Our whole situation is just embarrassing beyond words. Top notch free agents continuously say they want to play here, but because of a poor owner and incompetent GM, we can't sign them. It's just pitiful.

How sad is it that we have become the other LA team.
While Moreno and the Angels aggressively went after and acquired both Pujols and Wilson, this is what Ned & company accomplished...

    Orioles Acquire Dana Eveland
By Tim Dierkes [December 8, 2011 at 9:45am CST]

The Orioles acquired lefty Dana Eveland from the Dodgers, tweets Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. The Orioles will give up a 22-year-old lefty Jarret Martin and outfielder Tyler Henson, announced the team.

Eveland, 28, will be arbitration eligible for the first time in 2012. He posted a 3.03 ERA in 29 2/3 innings for the Dodgers this year, tossing another 154 frames in Triple-A. Executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said in a statement, "We think Dana is a qualified Major League pitcher who won 15 games last year between Albuquerque and Los AngelesHe provides depth and can compete for a starting spot on our roster in 2012."

Don't lie, you'd do it too. Plus, in a few years, he'll become a DH. Fucking hell man. Why are we all of a sudden becoming the red headed step child while the Angels are growing? The fuck, man?

Man, the Angels have become what we all expect the Dodgers to become. World series contenders...for at least a few years to come, maybe even perrenial contenders. Obviously the 10 year deal will hurt them long term, but Albert and Wilson will make them a badass team for a long time. They will now trade a good 1B for more stuff they need. I'm a jealous mother fucker right now.

I don't think so, he gave the Cards two championships. Lebron was the one running around saying that he was going to bring a championship to Cleveland, and we all know how that one goes.

So, I hope we're in on Morales or Trumbo, lol.
