That’s quite a change from last season, when Wilson returned from Tommy John surgery to throw 13.2 innings with a 0.66 ERA and convinced the Dodgers to re-sign him to a one-year, $10 million deal with an $8.5 million player option for 2015. All of which is why manager Don Mattingly sounds worried about Wilson when talking to Steve Dilbeck of the Los Angeles Times: "You couldn’t see the velocity out there. Some of those are 88-89, stuff like that, even less. It does concern us a little bit, but then toward the end of the inning, he’s dialing it up. The other day he comes out, it’s 88-90. By the end of the inning he’s throwing 96. But there are concerns." When asked if Wilson is injured, Mattingly replied: “He says he’s healthy.” Not exactly a ringing endorsement, especially considering he began the season on the disabled list with an elbow problem. And that $8.5 million player option is looking like a sure thing to get picked up this offseason. __
trade Hanley for David Robertson before Hanley leaves us anyway. he wants 130M. that's about 40M more than he should get. let the Yankees deal with him
not at all. Robertson's a pretty good reliever with a hard cutter. if they're worried about Wilson, and truly have no plans of re-signing Hanley, they should look into that
He looked pretty good last night...sooner or later he had to actually have a scoreless inning, though. Maybe a portend of what's to come, but who knows. Agon did make a good play to get him out of it, however. Just an observation from a guy sitting watching TV 3000 miles away, but he seems to land in different spots after each pitch. His two seamer seems to move too much and his release point is here , then there. No consistency to his mechanics. As Vinny noted, if you're throwing 93/94MPH, how damamged can your arm be? Because if he's doing it just because of what DBB said, then he's cruising for disaster.
too early to give up on hanley his upside is far more valuable to us than robertson's we've got plenty of effective relievers, when not improperly/over used they're both fa's after the season, we can get robertson then if we want same with the yankees and hanley -- especially since they're not going to push jeter to the curb during his final season
because Mo Rivera told them a week ago that he'd be available if they needed him this year and they'd get an everyday bat to play in their little league park?..

I haven't heard that rumor but assuming its true, this trade still doesn't make sense. The yanks bullpen isn't deep and getting Rivera back only to trade that increased depth for a guy we don't need doesn't make them better
i think wilson will be ready at some point he just needs to get dialed in. hopefully when it still counts.
