If this team trades Lux or May, I think it's a big mistake. Lux may be the next Kiké on this team, and May - despite looking like Carrot Top, Philly be a monster soon. Forget Soto. Let SD or Frisco or StL overpay him. And if they're gonna trade somebody, trade Cody or Muncy.
That guy Bard is the calibre closer we should have on the Dodgers. It makes no sense to have put together a team with SPs and a lineup like this, and have a huge question mark protecting it at the end. Zero sense.
Relievers are fickle. Kimbrel and Chapman both this year. 2 of the best closers of this generation have been complete and utter ass this season. Not like it was for lack of trying
Not sure I'd call those two fickle. I think they're both at the end of great careers. You're right about many closers, though. A lot of one and two year wonders as closers.
i know its a totally different mentality starting vs. closing but a lot of guys have made that transition w guys like Eck and Smoltz coming to mind probably not a popular opinion but why is it so taboo to think of a guy like CK in that role? if the argument is he's more valuable as a starter then what is the value of a great closer? just seems to me he's at that point or close to it where he could possibly extend his career and be spectacular in the role and i seriously doubt anyone in this organization has ever discussed it in front of him why do people think it would offend him or be a demotion? obviously a position of great need and unique character for the team
I think that'd be great to see. CK could probably pitch 3-4 more years if he closed exclusively. I saw Eckersley pitch a shutout at Angel Stadium in 1980 and years later saw him close a 1-2-3 ninth. The guy was as dominant as CK in his prime. It could happen. CK could pitch until he turns 40.
We didn't dream it up. I heard Orel mention it a month ago as a possibility. Kurkjian and Mueller did too. CK is guaranteed the HOF. But if he's going to retire a Dodger, he'd have to be in the bullpen to make it work by the end.
CK in the pen immediately gives me nightmares of game 5 vs the Nats in 2019. That team at least makes the WS if dumbass Dave uses Maeda to start the 8th…
Last game I attended. How Dave wasn't fired after that series is beyond me. Then he gets the fake Covid WS, guaranteeing his job for years to come.
Don't care if we didn't dream it up. Giving all credit to Irish...if we do it, and we fail like we do 90% of the time, then credit ( or discredit) to the ones you mentioned. That's how it is in NJ. Fixed.
Dave is one of those guys whose luck obliterates any logic. " The fault lies not in the stars, but ourselves" ...except for Dave.
the league has figured him out he'll be lucky to go .500 the rest of the way on the other hand both max and cody looking much better at the plate might sound silly, but the way they're taking pitches now is totally different than even a week ago both look much more confident
oh ok i didn't see the Irish post on it i know i've heard someone say it somewhere and it was probably here just looking at May and Heaney coming back and White in AAA it sure seems like a natural and according to what i've been hearing CK did finally slow down his regimen a bit on advice not a lot of heroes available out there and right now it doesn't look like there's much left of our bp
