What.ever reason he comes up with, he still threw a very rapid No. 1 at him above the waist. I definitely feel he threw at him...study the tape of that pitch and see how he angled his body to deliver it...definitely.
I think Pages can handle himself in a fight...I always thought he looked like a gang member from the get go. Maybe I'm wrong...lots of bb players are fruitty limps when it comes to fighting. But not all.
Actually, I would have liked to seen him clock that Timothy Olyphant in Deadwood looking Cease right in the nose. Or mouth.
    Peace.

Pages is Cuban ... so ....

To extend your Timothy Olyphant comparison ... if SD wants to fight LA ... my advice?

I get that this is partially hyperbole, but I'm glad it didn't come to that. Pages is, to a degree, carrying this offense right now and I'd hate to lose him for a few games.

Besides, like I said above, if it was intentional, Cease and the Padres paid big time for it. If he had got Pages out, the next guy was Conforto who of course K'd and they get out of the inning down 3-2. The Machado homer would've tied it and from there it would've been anybody's game, but at a minimum Cease would not have got the L.

Seeing this, it's just comical that both umpires ruled that he held up. First base ump must've had his eye on some girl in the stands.

This, exactly. No pitcher should ever get ruffled from a runner at second stealing signs. It's happened for decades, if not a century -- it's part of the game. What's the runner suppose to do, look away? Anyhow, doesn't pitch-com address that?

    I hate bullpen games.

On one hand, I have to give the Dodgers (and I suppose, Davey) some credit. They often do better than I expect in these games. Yet you always run the risk of someone like Sauer shitting the bed, and at that point it doesn't make any sense but to hang him out to dry in order to eat innings and before you know it he's surrendered 9 runs, like he did last time. Plus, I believe back-to-back BP games are unexplored territory. Who's the bulk guy tonight, Sauer or Wrobleski?

Will Sheehan start tomorrow, and what can we reasonably hope for - five innings? And if Ohtani only went one inning yesterday, what's the expectation for his next start - two innings? We need Glassarm and Shell back soon. Too bad Knack proved that last year was a fluke and Miller is proving that he should be studying for his insurance license or something. I wish the AAA pipeline wasn't bone dry. Next up is Nick Frasso, #11 on the team's prospect list, and he's already on the 40-man. Dodgers acquired him in the Mitch White trade. But he missed all of last year with labrum surgery and just hasn't rediscovered success on the mound yet -- 5.36 ERA this year in OKC.

I laugh at myself thinking the Dodgers staff (no homo) was so loaded coming into this season.

Can't argue with your logic or reasoning, since they both make sense and. are correct.
But we come from different generations, and you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Two bullpen games in a row? Is it up to 7 days between starts now?
Guess Vasquez is really much better than I thought. Pitch count is great too.

How much satisfaction can there be that you made yourself an OK ss, but no longer put fear in the hearts of the opposition when you come up to the plate ? A HoF hitter ? To wallow in the .260 batting average range all year ?
I just don't get the trade off...
