Cub fan buddy in Chicago commented that maybe it shouldn't have been an error on Miller. i think at the very least the first baseman needed to come off the bag instead of reaching for it like he did. but fuck it he didn't and LA won! and PCA is serving a 10 game suspension for douchey behavior haha.

 

These games are the Padres' WS, if it is a save situation, I expect Miller to be in the game

1B didn't have a chance to come off the bag and catch that. Miller threw a bullet over there.

 

Was out for the evening so I didn't see any of it. Followed it on the phone and watched the condensed version this morning.

Step back for Sheehan. Left a couple of fastballs in Manny and Andujar's wheelhouses.

Another strong outing for the pen. Not without a little drama. A couple of deep fly balls died on the track. No sweat 9th from Klein.

Story of the game was the Pages 9th inning AB against the monster Miller. 9 pitches, 6 foul balls. Got just enough of it for the sac fly. ABS worked out for Muncy. Looked like a similar pitch that Miller used to strike him the previous night. Pays to get a bit lucky at times. Call was dead to rights picked off. Made up for with his wheels and slide at home.

Two HRs for infirmed Freddie and a couple of doubles for Sho. Four of the Dodgers' six hits.

A lot of talk (and deservedly so) about the Sho show (5 shutout innings and a leadoff HR), but the story for me is the pen. Another four scoreless innings and just two hits, one of them a swinging bunt. Henriquez looking like a mini Miller. Treinen's sinker was nasty. Hurt worked his way out of a mess (partially due to Muncy's mystery throw) and another clean, uneventful inning for Klein. Loving what the young guys are bringing to the pen.

Last add on Sho. I'm tired of hearing about his desire for the Cy Young. Makes me wonder about his decision not to take the double play in the 5th leading 3-0. Should have taken the two outs. Makes me wonder if that was Shohei protecting his ERA. Seems petty whining about the best player in the game, but it's certainly food for thought. That said, last night was the first time he didn't go innings.

Who else thought the worst when Sho walked the #9 hitter to get to Tatis with the bases loaded? No sweat. That 6-4-3 double play was as pretty as it gets.

Should have scored a few more. Just 2-11 with RISP. Teo's HR might have landed on the deck of the Midway.
