Nobody expected him to be this good but all guys go through slumps, got the day off yesterday so we'll see but you cannot deny he has exceeded expectations. Hope he will start to bunt more often.

He exceeded expectations for one month. We've seen that before with lots of guys. It was a similar experience in his first season. He came out of the shoot hot and fizzled out before the season got warmed up. I didn't expect him to keep it up so he actually has not exceeded my expectations, he met them...I expected him to revert to form.

the only difference is this season he's stealing a lot more...

...on those rare occasions when he gets on base

yeah and the extra 20 lbs doesn't hurt his speed and on those rare occasions when he does make contact he seems to have a bit more pop than last year

I dunno if it's his confidence or his hand eye or his pitch recognition or his weak melon he just doesn't seem to grasp what he's supposed to do in the batters box

    Elite basestealing.
    Improves yearly.
    Adapts well.
Moments of sustained stellar offensive production.
Great pedigree, cares, and still raw in his tools potential.

Imo, sure maybe some 34 year old journeyman might be more consistent at bat but why not continue to develop the kid?
In sure he will be better Juan Pierre

Way to set the bar low.
Point of fact, he has not improved yearly. His 2012 and 2013 were terrible compared to 2011, and he is declining rapidly from his fast start this year. Instead of continuing development, why not sell high on him and get something of value. We have the Cuban who just needs an ear transplant and he's good to go, so we could deal Gordon and keep Figgie as the back up.

If Dee Gordon was Juan Pierre I'd be thrilled.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that he could have found it I don't know but the signs are good so far. I probably should have wrote exceeding instead of exceeded because I NEVER thought he'd be doing this and oh by the way he has 3 hits today and a SB so far.

Which makes him 6 for 22 over the last seven days. Oh by the way, 5 of those 6 came in the last two days. If he can carry a .270 average and a .340 OBP till the end of the season it will be a MAJOR accomplishment, and more power to him. I don't see it happening. I'm not against Dee, I just think we can do better.

I know SB's aren't vogue in this sabr crazy world but we're not going to get better than 36 out of 40 steals and wreaking havoc on the base paths. I'd love to know who we would get as a better option, maybe Utley but he'd cost a ton of specs.

what Dee's done this year is a miracle when you consider that everybody behind him (other than Puig) is struggling. the fact that our lineup sucks balls for the most part doesn't help him at all. he deserves another year to build on his lead off role and we deserve a look at his progression when guys are actually swinging the bats well behind him. his defense has been solid and between he and Arruba we could have the future 2B/SS combo with the most range in MLB. i want to see Dee with a younger/non bum group behind him..a Guerrero, a Joc, a Seager..also wanna see Dee with a better/smarter manager. like Doughty said..36 steals is major. it's more steals than more than half MLB. it's time to focus on the guys following Dee in the lineup. he's coming along just fine.

    I don't like steals if I was a manager.
Waste if resources to sign guys that are steal oriented.
But there are always exemptions or else you a stick in the mud.
Dee is coming in with elite speed and stealing ability.
That level of speed causes major havoc and increases scoring oppt.
If he can get on base at .333 clip his speed and skill will get us runs.

If Dee is no longer going to hit like he used to, then he should be used as the ultimate pinch runner.

No reason to have so many weak spots in the lineup for the sole reason that he's really fast.

Dodgers don't have a lot of answers for the 2B spot..Guerrero's looked horrible there defensively. Dee's been solid defensively..if our org doesn't build on that we're in more trouble than we know. those " weak spots " are gettin paid too much to hit the way they are..they need to either step it up behind Dee or pack their bags. we have too much everyday talent coming in behind them from the minors at their spots to settle for this mediocre shit from veterans.
