    @LegionHoops
Richard Jefferson on Lakers fans celebrating LeBron leaving:

“I’m f**king glad he’s gone, and I promise you LA, you’re in for an interesting 5 f**king years”

Jefferson is one of Luke Walton's best friends. I'm reading some anti-Laker bias here.

this is pretty accurate. Kobe was everything to this fanbase and city. Kobes image hangs in my room. i wouldn't have an image that even had mebron in it in my possession.

“L.A. people, God rest Kobe’s soul. A lot of people, on the heels of Kobe’s passing, and LeBron, they did not want that spotlight shared in L.A. There are Lakers fans, and there are Kobe fans. There are LeBron fans, and there are Lakers fans. And that’s where the clash is, in my opinion. The Kobe fans wanted nothing to do with LeBron being in L.A. wearing purple and gold because Kobe was their guy,” RJ added.

also resented the incessant talk of GOAT and the need to relentlessly refocus the spotlight on how great he is. same thing people dislike about DJT. add to that forcing his son onto the team and the flopping and preening and just enough. take that show elsewhere!

been watching all these players the team is picking up and it sure should be an interesting 5 years. team seems to be using a character focus similar to the Dodgers.

We all know what you mean, and it's disgusting.
Typical Snowtime bigot from the valley.
Do me a favor and don't show your white boomer face around Crypto Arena this year.

he was awesome and lived every second of that 72 season on my 9v transistor radio. was glued to the side of my head wherever i was. as great as that was i became exhausted of hearing Chick say "finger roll no good". a defensive monster that only Kareem could solve, his offensive game was as bad as could be in the end. oh and that assist to Gail Goodrich! man i used to practice that falling behind the backboard shot for hours. think every kid in LA did.

He'll need the $$$ to pay his lawyers & the taxes & penalties on his $16 million in undisclosed income (allegedly).

Don’t forget Jared Kushner’s younger brother. We’re about to trade Luka for Deni Avdija. Dark times ahead.

yeah 2.5 billion is a nice return on a one year investment but something else going on here. he needed the cash. guy like him would never take that off the table knowing what that return is going to be in 20 years. not what fan was hoping for. ugh.

I just checked how much a Laker season seat costs.

I have to assume that the $8K per season seat average will absolutely go up in subsequent seasons. And those $15K ones ... make that a double.

Mark Walter and his whole Guggenheim crew? Historically? That’s a pygmy thing over in Iowa. They’re a glorified crew. Plain and simple.

They sat there running private credit out of a strip mall style asset-management outfit, running around thinking they were sitting at the same table as the real families. They wanted to be made. They bought the Dodgers, they grabbed the purple and gold, and for a minute, they thought they had their buttons.

Sharp as a cue ball, this Walter.

The poor prick forgot that in this thing of ours—not the old Italian neighborhood, but the global corporate syndicate where the real machers operate with transnational pull and multi-continental ties—you can't just hustle your way into being a real boss. You’re an outsider. A self-made wannabe. A glorified bookkeeper pushing paper for the real captains.

Walter thought he was a heavy earner, but he was handling the books with wet cement. Between his ticker going out during the World Series—Timeline got fucked up—and the feds in Manhattan crawling all over those sixteen billion in related-party insurance paper, the guy was a walking liability.

And then what does he do? He goes off-script. He lets a generational cash cow like LeBron James walk out the door over a spreadsheet optimization, completely disrupting the macro-yield of the entire syndicate’s portfolio. Stunad of the first magnitude. That wasn't just a bad roster choice; that was stepping on the toes of the actual bosses who view these franchises as global macro-economic engines.

So what happens? The real commission didn't even have to send anyone to the Jersey Turnpike. They just let the SEC and the DOJ tighten the tourniquet around Guggenheim’s neck until Walter was ripe to fall right off the tree.

Along come Bob Iger and Josh Kushner—guys connected to the absolute highest tier of the transnational power matrix, plugged straight into the upper echelons of global capital and cross-border alignment. They didn't come to negotiate. They came to do a swift, cold corporate foreclosure.

They didn't whack him. They gave him a nice little two-billion-dollar vig on a quick $12.5 billion flip just to pack up his golf clubs and go stare at the alligators down in Florida.

Mark Walter wanted to sit at the head of the table. Instead, he found out what happens when you play tough guy without a real family backing you up: You get your crown taken, your books seized, and you realize you were just renting the badge until the real bosses decided to change the locks.
