    more tibbs…

    @MLBPipeline
    James Tibbs III is taking quickly to the highest level of the Minor Leagues. The #Dodgers prospect has a 2.105 OPS after a multihomer game -- with the batted ball data to back up a breakout campaign: https://atmlb.com/4dOyxhc

    This doesn't mean much to me, but it may to some of you SoCal peeps. The Dodgers single-A affiliate is being changed from Rancho Cucamonga to Ontario, and the team name is the Tower Buzzers. Games start this Thursday. At the moment, the roster lists all three of the Dodgers top SS prospects (#5 Morales, #16 Lindsey, #21 Vargas) as well as the top 3B in the system (#17 Harlan). There's a pretty good OF representation, too (#9 Davalan, #15 Ko, #27 Vidourek, #28 Tunink). As far as pitching prospects, the only one from the organization's top 30 is #19 Nieves. If I lived in the area, I'd try to catch a game or two, if nothing else than to see Morales play.

    Some of these guys could get bumped up to high-A to start the season... we'll see on Thursday.

    I wouldn't know, but guessing it's not the most desirable part of the general area?

    @OKC_comets
    #Dodgers No. 11 prospect James Tibbs III went 8-for-13 with two homers, three doubles, a triple and eight RBIs over his first three Triple-A contests.

    The area the stadium is at is wonderful; it's quiet, completely, at least several blocks away it is. Smells like cow shit a fair amount of the time but still great lol

    I thought all the dairies from that area had relocated to the Central Valley.

    Tibbs watch. Struck out looking in his first AB on what appeared to be a bad call.

    But Ehrhard doubled in Kim.

    @MeeliInc
    Dodgers asked Kim for plate discipline-
    Today he has a 12 pitch walk, as well as an 8 pitch walk, plus 2 runs scored via his speed
    He wants this roster spot BADLY

    And should get it. Plus, they can have Bulgogi Dogs & Kimchi-flavored beer at the concession stands to celebrate his promotion.

    Of course, Ohtani will make Kim his comfort infielder...

    I promise I won't keep updating on Tibbs... just seeing how long this tear lasts. He's singled today in his first two ABs. In 20 ABs so far, he's hitting .600 with a 1.986 OPS. This includes 4 doubles, a triple, and three HRs, plus a couple of walks.

    I also continue to be impressed with Ehrhard. He missed a couple of games with a banged-up thumb, but good to see him back and producing. Smaller sample size with just 10 ABs, but he's at .500/1.324.

    Kim is 0-2 today, two ground outs. It's almost like the pitcher knows he's been tasked with seeing more pitches. He's been given 5 pitches, all strikes.

    Now this diminishes Tibbs and Ehrhard's success a bit, but a lot of the team is tearing it up right now, including some of their career minor leaguers.

    Two that are not doing well are on the Dodgers 40-man - Siani and Ward. Siani still perplexes me as a signee - I get that they like his glove but he can't hit worth shit. And I have a theory on Ward, and this is just my speculation. Dodgers added him to the 40-man during the offseason (before signing Tucker). He did not have a good spring training and so far is having a miserable start to this season. It feels like at 28 he almost got his one shot at the majors and failed, and now he's deflated. Again, just speculation. Or maybe he's just hurt or going through a slump. Anyhow, this shouldn't affect the big league team at all, so it's possibly the last I write on him.
