That really, really sucks for George. He was having a helluva season. WTF... a dog? Really? What's wrong with having a normal bat boy like most of the other teams?

its a fun idea and someone thought it would put asses in the seats. maybe even sell the kids some stuffed doggie toys. i don't think that's even the only team doing it. bat dogs are becoming a fan favorite i'm sure. hardly practical though. and now a kids career might be in jeopardy because of it. definitely a poor idea to involve an animal in an active game. what a shame.

Wow, yes it is! I'm not too familiar with Florentino but the fact that Sirota leapfrogged Clark is huge. And I bet Davalan would be in the next ten.

    1. Sliding into a base and getting tangled with it or a fielder
    2. Crashing into the outfield wall while tracking down a fly ball
    3. Landing awkwardly after a diving catch
    4. Getting plunked by an errant pitch
    5. Hurdling Fido near the on deck circle

Only four of these should be real injury risks while playing baseball. The fifth is asinine, avoidable, and not something we should ever have to talk about.

Anyhow, costly mistake, but it looks like this program is "dog-gone." https://bleacherreport.com/articles...ed-after-star-prospect-kendall-georges-injury

I just hope George can fully recover. Without his speed, much of his value as a prospect is gone.

Zach Root just had his longest - and probably best - outing. They let him go four innings -- 69 pitches, 40 for strikes. He gave up a hit and two walks, but no runs and lowered his season ERA to 2.12. Oh, and 9 K's!

He's got a nice little 13.1 inning scoreless streak going.

An initial MRI shows no ligament damage in George's knee according to ESPN. No further details yet. I hope that's accurate.

There are 30 MLB teams. No way should one team have six prospects in a top 50 list. Those damn Dodgers are ruining baseball. ;-)

6 Dodgers Prospects Rank in Keith Law’s Top 50

Keith Law of The Athletic released a midseason Top 50 prospect update, which contains six Los Angeles Dodgers hopefuls.

While no Dodgers rank within the Top 10, five of the six Dodgers prospects included in the list place within the Top 25—including three players who missed the Top 50 altogether in Law’s preseason ranking.

    Edgardo Quintero, No. 11
Edgardo Quintero is the highest ranked Dodger on Law’s list, and just misses out on a Top 10 spot. He began the year in High-A after coming up towards the end of the 2025 season, and has serviceable numbers through his 37 games so far.

He has two homers and 17 RBIs so far this season, posting. .721 OPS. While this is marginally worse than the five homers and .824 OPS he had in 32 games in High-A last season, Law still believes the 20-year-old has a bright future.

“A slow start on paper for Quintero isn’t reflective of how he’s played; he’s at .265/.379/.360 in his return to High A — slightly below what he did at the same level in 32 games last year — but he’s still making excellent swing decisions and hitting the ball hard enough to stick with a forecast of future 55-60 power,” Law wrote.

    Josue De Paula, No. 13
After a poor start in Double-A last season, Josue De Paula returned to Tulsa following a strong spring training and began hitting how everyone expected him to. He has a .899 OPS through 43 games this season, hitting six homers and driving in 40 runs in the process.

MLB ranks the 6-foot-3 21-year-old as the Dodgers’ top prospect, and odds are he’ll be on the way up to Triple-A sooner rather than later is he continues swinging as he has so far in Double-A.

    Mike Sirota, No. 18
Mike Sirota, the return for the Dodgers’ trade of Gavin Lux two off-season ago, missed most of last season with a knee injury, but that hasn’t kept him from tearing up both High-A and Double-A in 2026.

Sirota began the season with High-A Great Lakes, where he posted a 1.080 OPS through 35 games. He made the move to Double-A midway through May, and is batting .304 with an .883 OPS through six games so far. Sirota sat at No. 51 in Law’s last prospect ranking.

    River Ryan, No. 19
River Ryan is a surprising name to see on a prospects list, seeing as how he made his MLB debut in 2024, but has missed the last couple of seasons with injury and still has his rookie eligibility.

Ryan is extremely likely to return to the Dodgers by the end of the year, and has given the Dodgers a reason to pull him up through four starts in Triple-A. He has a 2.81 ERA through 16 innings pitched, and has struck out 21 batters as well. In Law’s last prospect ranking, Ryan was a few places behind Sirota at No. 55.

    James Tibbs III, No. 24
James Tibbs III is another unexpected name for Law’s list, seeing as he didn’t even feature in the preseason ranking, but it’s no wonder he’s here considering his start to the season. Tibbs had two multi-homer games in Triple-A Oklahoma City’s first eight games of the season, as well as seven total.

He’s since slowed down, but that’s not to say he’s been bad. Tibbs still has a 1.004 OPS with 12 homers—tied for fourth in the PCL—and 38 RBIs.

    Zyhir Hope, No. 28
Zyhir Hope had a cup of tea in Double-A last season, playing in six games and recording as many hits, and has been even better in a larger sample size this season. He has nine homers already this season through 43 games, as well as a .810 OPS—his highest at any level since playing 54 games in Single-A in 2024.

Piggybacking this on my post of Serwinowski's last start...

Today he went 5.1 innings for Tulsa, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 BBs, 8 K's. 59 of 94 pitches were for strikes. Not quite as stellar as last week, but after an absolutely miserable start to the season, that's back-to-back games in which he's looking like last year and like a #11 prospect. Has lowered his ERA from 9.10 to 6.86.

As for the rest of the team, De Paula was on base twice, while Sirota and Hope got on three times each. But the best thing to see was George on the bench instead of the IL.

    Double-header... game 2 to follow.

Fun OKC game to summarize. Get this...

Another great start for the River. 6 IP, 4 hits, 0 walks, 0 ER, 8 K's. 67 of 87 pitches for strikes and I think he's pretty close to ready for a call-up when needed.

Two HRs for Mr Tibbs. 6 RBIs. Getting hot again.

Ehrhard extends his on-base streak to 19 games.

A couple hits for Tommy E.

And just for icing on the moon pie, the Comets get to Josh Hader for 3 runs in 2/3 of an inning.

Update on the state of the Dodgers pitching prospects.

A few weeks ago I posted that I was generally down on the organization's top arms. At that time there was Copen doing well and really NOBODY else. To say that I'm more optimistic today is an understatement.

Copen has crashed back down to Earth, but...

Ryan, Serwinowski, Root, and Leiter have all recorded consecutive strong starts. As a matter of fact, as a group since May 19 (two starts each), they've struck out 55 over 35.1 innings with an ERA of 0.51 and a 0.85 WHIP.

Ferris was injured but on Wednesday had his first start in three weeks. They only let him go two innings but no runs allowed.

Zazueta, after an April with a 4.76 ERA, has improved to 3.94 so far in May, so trending in the right direction. He goes again tonight.

The others in the Top 30 - Nieves, Patick, Martin, and Brady Smith - have all been either injured (Nieves) or mediocre, but other than Nieves (#18) over Leiter (#21), these guys are all ranked lower than the first group mentioned.

One more update: Peter Heubeck, Dodgers 2021 3rd round high school pick, was shelved with injury last year and the team decided to leave him unprotected in the Rule 5 draft. No team claimed him and he barely held on to his ranking, starting the season as #30 on the Dodger list. He hasn't pitched yet this year but is slated to start tonight for Tulsa. He's still only 23 so it's not too late for him to turn his career around.

Wow, Huebeck! 3 innings, 1 hit, 0 walks, 0 runs, 6 K's. Nice way to come back, kid! Would be hilarious if he keeps this up and 29 other teams regret not grabbing him in the Rule 5.

Wowza! Only the bottom of the third so far in Tulsa and DePaula, Sirota, and Hope are combined 7-for-7 plus a walk with a triple, HR, six runs scored and 8 RBIs!
