Just a question, mostly rhetorical, but what are the odds that production wise, Wrobo = or > Skubal the rest of the season? Not saying that'll happen, but there's some number that represents that probability, and I bet it's higher than most would think.

imo wrobo is one of the most undervalued players on the team
i took great joy in him striking out the side in the ASG
i could easily see him matching or even bettering skubal down the stretch
big game for skubal tonight against the angels
could determine whether or not detroit opts to ship him

reminds me of how weird it was w Pedro Martinez before they traded him. sure some in the organization see him as a fluke possibly. or unable to keep pace who knows? all i know is the kid is well into a solid second year and has a great attitude. if the Dodgers do underestimate him it will be their mistake. they should be thinking about locking him up like other teams are doing w their young throwers.
pretty sure they've at least moved him into the untouchable category of players going to Detroit or elsewhere. kid is solid. i think Sheehan has it in him as well. let's start tomorrow.

Shelton today... single, single, double, home run, home run. 5 RBIs. Right now he's a man among boys in the California League. Time to move him to high-A, see if he can hang there.

Interesting approach with Edwin Diaz. He's now had four appearances... A-ball, then Arizona rookie league, then back to A-Ball for his most recent two. Four innings total - 1 H, 1 BB, 7 K's, no ERs. Obviously the competition is beneath him. Are they trying to protect him from something?

Oh cool, I was looking for him in the Arizona League box score the last couple of games and he wasn't listed. Will be interesting to see if there are any corresponding moves, with top-30 prospects Vargas and Lindsey already there. Vargas has been mostly playing short, Lindsey 2B. There's also a kid named Martinus there that covers both positions... not top-30 but still only 21 and he is hitting .311/.882 with 12 HRs. So definitely a bit of a log jam and with West moving up you'd think one of those three will also get promoted.

    Ranking update:

MLB Pipeline does two major reworks of their prospect ranking each year - once during the winter and once after the draft, and then they do minor tweaks as needed. I'm still waiting for the post-draft changes, but there's one adjustment, and that's due to Vidourek getting traded. Looks like instead of moving everyone up one and adding a name to the bottom of the list, they decided to just plug OF Jaron Elkins into the #25 spot vacated by Vidourek. Elkins is absolutely raking at Ontario this year, so it's well deserved. He's hitting .340, which leads the California League, and his 1.019 OPS is second only to teammate Easton Shelton.

The Dodgers have signed their top pick (40th overall) prep 3B Bo Lowrance to a $3 million bonus, per source.

The slot value was $2,504,200 and the Dodgers total draft pool was $3,951,900.

The Dodgers have an incredible nine of the Top 100 Prospects in baseball.

That is far more than any other team - the Brewers, Guardians, Mariners and Nationals each have six.

    19. Zyhir Hope OF
    30. Eduardo Quintero OF

2023 third round draftee and Dodgers #29 prospect Brady Smith just got promoted to high-A Great Lakes. He was lights-out in June, regressed some in July, but overall is having a solid year: 3.88 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and in 65 innings has 104 K's (wow) vs only 27 BBs. The Midwestern League is considered more pitcher-friendly than the California League, so we'll see if that translates to even better numbers.

2024 eleventh-rounder Aidan Foeller is moving up to AA Tulsa. He didn't allow a run in 14.2 June innings, but like Smith, July has been a different story with him getting knocked around. Still, this has been his best season, recording a 3.46 ERA with only a 1.01 WHIP.

He's only 1 for 4 today (one more AB coming up), but with 29 HRs, not only has he almost doubled the second most (15) in the Midwestern League, but he's tied for the most among all minor league players - and the guy he's tied with is baseballs #46 prospect.

Not bad for a walk-on free agent.
