Agreed. Dodgers have 8 free agents. Hudson and Kiermaier are retiring, and I believe it's time to cut ties with Mariachi Joe. That leaves the four you listed plus Flaherty. Jack grew up a Dodger fan and I'm sure would love to come back, but if it's between him and Beuhler, I'd prefer Ferris who has proven he doesn't get rattled on the big stage. Only question for Walker is the TJs - is he more susceptible to future arm problems? Would love Teoscar back but it would have to be a multi year deal - will LA do that with all the other big contracts (side note - I heard he had the most hits in the WS - keeps paying dividends). Kike should be resigned and being a utility player should still come cheap. Treinen is a must though - can't imagine the BP without him and wouldn't want our guys facing those nasty pitches.
I wish Shohei would just become an outfielder. I know it's not going to happen, but I'd rather have the additional WAR from a position that's not going to get him injured.
great another white elitist telling an asian what they need to do why not just send him to manzanar? hitler youth rally >>> a victory parade
Hernández and Flaherty share desire to stay in Los Angeles by Juan Toribio | MLB.com — 3 hours ago Outfielder Teoscar Hernández and right-hander Jack Flaherty are both free agents this offseason, but the two made it clear on Friday that their desire is to be back with the Dodgers next season. In his first season with the Dodgers, Hernández became a fan favorite and an integral part of the lineup. The outfielder signed a one-year deal with the Dodgers last winter in hopes of rebuilding his stock. He now believes he has found a home in Los Angeles. “My hopes are really high,” Hernández said. “Like I’ve said before, the Dodgers are the priority, obviously. I’m going to do everything in my power to come back.” Hernández and the Dodgers didn’t have any advanced talks during the season, but they’ll have conversations throughout the winter. “Hopefully tomorrow,” Hernández joked, when asked about his free-agent timeline and coming back to the Dodgers. “I want us to be here. I want us to be part of this. I have so many good memories here. I’ve learned a lot as a player, as a person. It feels great to be part of this.” As for Flaherty, the right-hander told David Vassegh on SportsNet LA that he would like to return to his hometown team. Flaherty was a Trade Deadline acquisition from the Tigers and will command a multiyear deal. “I love this city,” Flaherty said. “I never want to leave.” .
We can forget about any chance of Kershaw ending his career in Texas or anywhere else for that matter. He pretty much said today that for however much longer he plays, it will be as a Dodger. But now he has a tear in his knee that he needs to get fixed. Likely not to be ready for the 2025 opener.
That's encouraging but he was interviewed yesterday on MLB radio and mentioned he might not be ready by April 1. My guess is that would be partly to save him from the wear-and-tear of a full season.
i was wondering why he didn't do the surgeries during the season but this makes perfect sense in a weird, throw away a WS game kind of way
An MLB investigation has found that a top teenage prospect in the Dominican Republic who had verbally agreed to sign with the San Diego Padres falsified his paperwork and is five years older than previously believed.
Yankees ace Gerrit Cole opted out of his contract Saturday, leaving the team with the ability to ensure he remains in pinstripes by adding an additional year at $36 million to the four years and $144 million that had been remaining on the contract, sources told ESPN. idk seems a bit steep for a guy too lazy to field his position
Thought I'd give myself a refresher of where the Dodgers currently stand with regards to 2025 starting pitching: Written in pen Yamamoto Glasnow Blowing the layer of dust off his glove Ohtani Showing off their surgical scars in Spring Training Kershaw May Gonsolin Sheehan (likely after ASG) Spending the winter trying to remember how to pitch Miller Break glass in case of emergency Knack Wrobleski See you in '26 Stone Ryan Thanks for the memories? Buehler Flaherty Man, I don't know what the Dodgers off-season budget is, and I really want Treinen and Teo resigned, but I feel that Buehler NEEDS to be brought back too. I know that wouldn't come cheap and may not even be an option. Flaherty wants to stay a Dodger and I'd be okay with that if and only if we lose out on Ferris, but it'd have to be at a discount and I doubt that's likely to happen. Side note: He's so much more effective with an extra day of rest, but unfortunately, that's not normally a luxury in the playoffs. Bottom line, if we let Walker, well... walk, then we better not spend a boatload on some other pitcher. Yamo, Glasnow, Buehler, Ohtani, and a combination of Kershaw/May/Gonsolin as they get healthy, with HOPEFULLY Miller finding his way out of the woods, and this rotation is stacked for next year. What do you all think?
Excellent summation. Can any of these guys be counted upon for a full season of work? Top three are set in stone (Yoshi, Glasnow and Shohei), fragile as they are. I think May's mechanics preclude him from ever being a starter again. He could be a real asset as a multi-inning reliever. Anything they get out of Kershaw is a bonus. Gonsolin's injury history makes him a giant question mark. Sheehan...who knows? Wild card is Miller. All the talent in the world, but can they set his mind straight? Don't dismiss Knack so easily. He put in some good work for a rookie, despite his penchant for coughing up the long ball. Wrobleski scares me. Needs cut way down on the walks. Wondering if they consider Caparius a candidate? Certainly worth consideration. He was fearless in the postseason. Hope somehow they can work something out with Walker, although the postseason might have driven his price up past where the Dodgers want to go for twice TJed right arm. Love that Flaherty enjoyed his time with the Dodgers, but I'd have to say thanks for the memories.
great post! TEO is a dodger through and through when he came up to speak and started tearing up so did I Walker should be brought back as well and I think the owners might do it just to not be like the braves and the red sox and those other teams that have let go of a top star for money reasons the dodgers are the new dynasty team like the Jeter yankees which makes Dave our Joe Torre the 5th position being up to the guys you mentioned would make the dodgers have a better pitching staff than the Maddux Braves so my question is what is the Dodgers weak spot, what do they need, what position can be upgraded? DH is a lock with Ohtani 1B is a lock with Freeman LF is for Teoscar with Edman around Mookie can go back to his natural RF Edman should take 2B that looks like the core the Dodgers still have a couple of good catcher prospects (Rushing/Cartaya) but i doubt Will Smith is moving anytime soon and 3B is for Max/Kike/Taylor as the Dodgers legacy position SS and CF are the more defensive critical positions if they gonna spend money to add players it should be in these two places to add even more flexible players to the team for now its Pages in CF and Rojas at SS is Rojas coming back? is Pages good enough of a prospect to have the full time job? if the dodgers want to get a free agent the best fit might be another asian in Ha-Seong Kim he just opted out of his deal with the Padres he would make the Dodgers even better defensively, even more flexible as he plays all over and even faster on the base paths as he is a high level steals threat with good plate discipline adding revenue from the korean market is a thing the dodgers like to do and he probably wont be super expensive as hes not a big hitter but has promise and around the dodgers he might prove to be another Edman type with the bat instead of selling out for another big bopping superstar we should resign our guys and just add another sharp blade to keep the team lean and mean like the machine it is
Kim is the glue guy of the Padres and was probably the reason why the team gelled into a legit contender It wasnt the Tatis and Machado or the other big hitters Taking him from Padres would be a huge blow to their morale https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Qj-ktlb5d5Y He is super underrated but if he joins the Dodgers he will be another kike but younger and with the promise to become a star Plus he would be pretty cheap like 12$ per year for 4 years would get it done I think it would be better than going for Wily Adames who will be expensive and already slowing down defensively so he should go to the Padres or Yankees
Teams that lose a player who received a qualifying offer receive a compensation pick. Dodgers right-hander Walker Buehler, San Diego Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar, and Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres were among the free agents not extended the qualifying offer. guess friedman was afraid buehler might accept the qo
