for some reason immediately made me think of andruw jones hope he goes full malcontent bahstan gets pitching
Hicks is garbage and they immediately sent Harrison to the minors. Sox dumped an expensive malcontent for very little.
Dodgers made similar deals to get Hanley and Manny. Both worked out in the short term. We'll see about Devers. He's not playing third with Chapman in SF. Looks like he'll do some 1B and DH duty.
Don't know much about Devers since the junior circuit means nothing to me. But from a quick search or two, he appears to be equal parts Milton Bradley & Albert Belle.
red sox make some of the worst trades remember that babe ruth guy? we essentially got mookie for verdugo might be a good time to see about getting buehler back
More on Devers ... https://bosoxinjection.com/red-sox-...one-final-unbelievable-way-after-giants-trade Gotta admit ... the BoSox REALLY screwed the pooch on this trade. Of course, I'm hoping the guy falls flat on his ass for Frisco.
Boston takes 2 of 3 from NYY last weekend, takes 2 of 3 from a hot Rays team this week, and then sweeps the Yankees over the weekend. Team is hot, fan morale is high, and they look primed to go on a run AND THEN they decide to trade their best hitter for peanuts Baffling to say the least Devers was a Yankees killer too F- trade for them on paper. vaGiants probably can't believe that's all they had to give up
It's going to be tough to fully assess this trade for a number of years. Yes, the Giants just got meaningfully better in the present. Perhaps they saw their window open right now with the Dodgers struggling to keep 5 starting pitchers healthy (as well as a fully-stocked bullpen), and they knew they needed a central bat in order to take the next step. Perhaps they were tired of hearing the experts say that their current win rate was unsustainable. Perhaps they believe that Devers will no longer be malcontent in a new setting and therefore will put up even better numbers. Perhaps they were just tired of coming up short in free agency, like with Judge and Correia. But they took on a big contract and despite giving up some potential talent, they also assumed 100% of the remaining contract. And there's a chance that he's only a DH for the next 8.5 years. That's a lot to pay for someone who doesn't play the field. Unless they have plans to move Chapman, which is unlikely. Ohtani is a DH, but he's also going to pitch, so it's not comparable. Anyhow, they'll need to turn this deal into a championship in the next few years, before this and the Adames contract become lead weights and their window closes. It's crazy to think that Boston gave up such an impact bat while only a half game out of a WC spot. I get why their fans are pissed. But they have the financial flexibility now to try to restock before the trade deadline, and now they're not the ones stuck with an expensive DH for the next 8 1/2 years. And then there's Kyle Harrison, let's see what he becomes. You know, Gnats at one time traded away Zach Wheeler too.
Adames aside, the Giants have whiffed on almost every free agent bat they've approached (Shohei, Judge, Correa and Harper). Don't see Chapman going anywhere. He signed a $151 million deal in the offseason.
i don't think its going to cost anywhere near that to get Ferris back and Banda is looking a lot better lately no time to give up on Rushing after watching Pages blossom but Contorto sure why not and its pretty much a push contract wise btw i know you were joking
