    @FabianArdaya
    First #BSOHL alert from DodgerFest: River Ryan said he’s put on 30 lbs in the last five months as part of his Tommy John rehab. Said he’s at 225 lbs now.

    ^ ardaya’s cred just went down a notch
    no mention of muscle, so the bsohl reference seemed facetious
    thankfully jack clarified…

    @ByJackHarris
    River Ryan said he put on about 30 pounds of muscle during his recovery from Tommy John (from 195 to 225) Now, he feels like he’s able to “throw a lot harder, a lot easier”

    So he presumes to know what Jackie would think today. Breaking down walls of racism and not enforcing immigration laws don't go hand-in-hand. Furthermore, Obama deported illegal immigrants - would he have said the same thing had the Dodgers won during that administration?

    respect to davey for this response though
    “For me, I stand by: I’m a baseball manager,” Roberts told me Saturday at the Dodgers’ fan festival. “That’s my job.

    “I was raised — by a man who served our country for 30 years — to respect the highest office in our country. For me, it doesn’t matter who is in the office, I’m going to go to the White House. I’ve never tried to be political. ... For me, I am going to continue to try to do what tradition says and not try to make political statements, because I am not a politician.

    The highest office disrespects itself and every single one of us peasants every minute that goes by without arrests and convictions for, at minimum, the rampant pedophile ring/network run by the very top of the western world
    I'd have more respect if he'd say as long as the pedophile network is protected by the President, regardless of their political affiliation, he will not go
    People shouldn't respect the highest office in the world while it actively protects, at minimum, pedophiles
    This isn't a Democrat, Republican, or MAGA thing
    They are all involved

    Cole Irvin is the ultimate break-glass-in-an-emergency acquisition. I hope this guy never gets called up, his stats are that bad, but he can eat innings if needed. It's always difficult before the season to fathom that they'll go through all their starting pitching options - especially this year with so many viable backups - yet it always seems to happen.

    The Skubal trade chatter just won't go away. I know much of it is click-bait, but still, how can you ignore it? The idea currently circulating is that the Yankees and Mets have backed away because Detroit's asking price is too high, and that the Dodgers are the only team that could conceivably meet those demands.

    Here's my take: Skubal would instantly improve any team's rotation, but in terms of to what degree, the margin of improvement for LAD would be less than for any other team. Skubal in place of Sasaki or Sheehan or Ryan is just not as much of an improvement than he would be over any other team's fifth or sixth-best starter. Furthermore, if there was a good chance that he'd extend his contract before the end of the season, that could add justification to dealing for him, but I very much doubt that Boras would allow bypassing free agency. Under normal circumstances, we could argue that he'd get comfortable with the Dodgers culture and they could just re-up him after the '26 season as a FA. However, with the expectation that owners will push hard for a salary cap next winter, that could preclude the Dodgers from signing any big names after this season, especially Skubal. Therefore, the likelihood of him being a rental is higher for LA than it would be for any other team. Is that really worth giving up, say, Sasaki and two of the team's top five prospects plus some lesser prospects? I say no.

    Welp ... I caught warmups for Cole when he was a sophomore at Servite. Really thought he'd be where Gerritt is now ... but not even close anymore.
