    Even if he doesn't resign, Skubal is good enough to warrant trading away a proven young starter along with a top 4 prospect, not Josue De Paula, to push for the three-peat
    He's immediately our best starter and a meaningful upgrade over whoever we'd move to the bullpen for his spot in the rotation in the post
    Skubal 1, Yama 2 immediately gives us the best 1-2 punch in baseball regardless of who we face
    Yama 1, Shohei/Blake/Glasnow 2, not so much even though that is still damn good
    Plus if we win and he enjoys it here, it makes his decision a little easier if he actually wants to win

    in a heartbeat (although i’d prefer to keep wrobo)
    but i’m not sure that alone gets it done
    teams almost always ask us for more in return than (from) other teams

    I agree that teams always ask more from Dodgers and this may not be enough. Bowden is probably way off here but was just using his estimation for this poll.

    I wanted Bichette over Tucker. In reality, Bichette has been even worse. But the financial commitment would have been less, both in dollars and years, and an argument could be made that his blockage of prospects would have been less impactful. There was so much press over these two guys in the offseason and it turns out that neither is helping the team that drafted him. I cringed when the Dodgers announced the terms of that contract. I just hope somehow Tucker figures it out and goes on a tear and opts out after next season. That appears to be quite the pipe dream right now. Eating a big part of the remaining contract at some point seems inevitable.

    they'll need to eat a lot of that contract or trade off the youth being blocked by it. guess nobodies perfect but this one truly defies reason. losing the money seems the least unsavory but as @THINKBLUE said its not our money. so unnecessary. why not just bring up a kid a moment early and let him develop like Pages? weird

    I'm not worried about him nearly on the same level as Mookie
    I worry more about Will Smith far more than Tucker, 31 yo catcher with a lot of mileage on him
    Tucker, for me, has just been a disappointment thus far but I don't worry about whether or not he'll figure it out
    It's just a matter of time
    As far as the prospects go, we all know far more fail than succeed, even if they are highly touted
    I expect one of the big four OFs (De Paula, Sirota, Hope, Quintero) to be good to great while the others prove, over their career, to not be good enough to warrant a spot on the Dodgers 26-man
    I'd love to be wrong about that
    De Paula is the guy I'd never give up in a trade unless he was part of a Bobby Witt Jr. trade, probably because I still think about Yordan Alvarez for Josh Fields about once a week
    My guess is Tucker is here for two more seasons then opts out before the year 4

    The BA guy, Josh Norris, that was interviewed in the Dodger talk video that @BigDaddyKaine linked in the other thread said that if the Dodgers want a seat at Skubal table, they COULD say, "Detroit, pick a couple of our outfield prospects and here's also a young controllable arm." I emphasize he said "could", not "should", but come on now. That kind of haul would make sense if there were still at least two years of team control on his contract... not for a rental. If that's what it's gonna take, hopefully the Dodgers are nowhere near that table.

    I'd be okay, not great, with De Paula, Sirota, River Ryan, Sheehan, plus, in a trade for Skenes, not Skubal
    I hope the Tigers go on a huge run and they choose to be buyers at the deadline
    I don't want Skubal on other teams but I don't want to trade for him either unless it's much cheaper than currently speculated

    they’ll get a good look at skenes later today so maybe that’ll help pique their interest in him (instead)

    too much unknown/insecurity on skubal post-injury/surgery, and way too high a price tag for half a season
    would hate to see him go to a contender (particularly ATL or MILW) but would reluctantly take that over giving up even one top prospect

    with all this young talent i'd like to hold up on the huge contracts and give the home growns a shot. especially after the tucker deal.

    Same. Let's see which rise to the top. Keep those and there should still be trade value in those that don't make the Dodgers cut.

    Anyhow, depending on how the CBA plays out, LAD may not have a choice.

    Tyler Glasnow hasn’t really made any progress in his recovery from his back injury, per Dave Roberts.

    “Glas is not doing anything, still just kind of hanging in there.”

    The Dodgers placed him on the 60-day IL on June 6.



    this will definitely help fan the flames on the skubal to LA chatter

    Getting Snell back and healthy (probably a pipe dream) will cure what ails the Dodger staff. Dodgers need to find a way to rid themselves of Glasnow.

    It's best if Glass and even Snell don't come back until late season. Otherwise odds are they're back on the shelf before the playoffs.

    As much as I think the Dodgers don't need Skubal, I shudder to think if teams like the Brewers (Skubal, Harrison and Miz), the Phillies (Wheeler, Luzardo, Sanchez and Skubal) or the Braves (Sale, Elder and Skubal) landed him.
