    Ducked in and out of the All-Star snoozefest or should I say fanfest (27 Ks).

    One pitch aside, strong outing for Wrobo.

    Would like to say the same for Pages, but it was pathetic watching him half ass it Manny style when he should have beaten out that ground ball up the middle easily.

    @OptaSTATS
    Over his career, Cody Bellinger has:
    • won Rookie of the Year (2017)
    • won LCS MVP (2018)
    • won MVP (2019)
    • won a World Series (2020)
    • won All-Star Game MVP (2026)
    No one else in MLB history has done all 5.

    Based on win probability, situation, distance traveled, etc., I think this needs to be in the running for greatest catch of all time, no?
    Sick of that overrated Willie Mays catch on countdown shows.

    Yeah, especially the situation. The Mays catch happened in the 8th inning of Game 1. Big moment for sure, but who's to say what the series outcome would've been if he failed to catch that? The Giants swept in four. They could have easily still won the series even with a game 1 loss.

    The significance of the Pages catch is non-debatable. Bottom of the ninth inning of game 7, tie score. Catch made, the game continues. Ball hits ground, series is over. Simple as that, so yes, I would rate it over Mays' on situation alone.

    My only (very slight) hesitation on calling it the best ever is that I'm about 80% sure that Kike catches it if Pages doesn't interfere. But I'm sure glad we didn't have to find out.

    • The first-place Milwaukee Brewers have padded their starting rotation by trading for Houston Astros oft-injured right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. and lefty Colton Gordon on Wednesday. In return, the Astros get minor league outfielder/designated hitter Jadyn Fielder, the son of former Brewers star Prince Fielder and grandson of Cecil Fielder. The Brewers will also pick up $2.5 million of McCullers' remaining $6,727,273 salary this season, as the Astros' longest-tenured pitcher was in the final year of a five-year, $85 million contract.

    @the_det_times
    REPORT: The Tigers are NOT expected to trade Tarik Skubal, per @Ken_Rosenthal.
    :rosenthal:

    not doubting rosenthal or what he’s being told
    that said, of course the tigers are going to say something (stupid) like this to try to increase interest/gain leverage
    no way they’re going to let skubal walk for only a draft pick when they can get something better via trade

    @katiejwoo
    Other updates ⬇️

    Will Smith (neck) will be fully shut down for a week before ramping back up to baseball activity. Mid-August looks like earliest possible return, per Roberts.

    Edwin Díaz will throw tonight & Sunday for ONT. Needs a back-to-back before activation.
