If Roberts were as much of a thinker & numbers man as he purports himself to be, he could flip Kimbrel with Phillips and thereby let Kimbrel work out his issues (or not). Helen Keller - in her current state - can see how shaky and uncertain and inexact Kimbrel's pitch location is when he comes in. The fact that Roberts continues to apply some subjective, gut feeling to decisions like this when he must know how fatal those decisions will be in october.. well that's the reason that most of us here hate the guy. .... ....it is safe to say that any current or former manager in the last decade of baseball could have gotten as many wins out of this roster in the last eight years as Roberts has gotten. Yet here we are, with a powerhouse team capable of 110 wins per year, a stroll through the playoffs, and a World Series championship to cap it, but with only one world title to show for it. Grady FECKIN Little would have beaten the Nats & Braves in 19 & 21. Roberts mismanagement is easily to blame, as much as poor execution, in those instances. It's just so damned frustrating.
you clearly don't pay attentions to the numbers everyone knows Kimbrel doesn't perform as well when its not the 9th pffft racist
Mookie and Trea are both great hitters. While Trea is possibly the most consistent hitter I can recall (whenever one hitting streak ends, it seems like he immediately starts a new one), Mookie is really streaky. But man, when he's on... he's on.
Roberts brought Phillips in to face the middle of the Pads' order in the 8th last night. Did something similar with Phillips earlier in the week. He's clearly trying minimize the Kimbrel factor while hoping he can somehow find his mojo.
Good point. Whatever is wrong with Kimbrel ... ponytails or hippie hair aren't the problem. His location is sketchy AF.
Down the road? It's August @dennistlin "I think we put too much emphasis on this team (the Dodgers)," Wil Myers said. "And I think, once the season gets going down the road, after we play together, these games will be different."
in my memory or what's left of it i can't recall ever watching two players on our team that seemed so on point was thinking the other day about how few times i've even looked to see how Seager is doing in Texas fuck 24 HR and 55 rbi is pretty nice but i'll take Trea every day of any week
taylor ought to do well 0-for-8 / 6k vs darvish mook rf trea ss fred 1b will c max 3b lux 2b gaYllo dh ct3 lf cody cf .
Bellinger 0 for 9 isn't any better. Well maybe he is, since only 3 K's. But seriously, 0 for 17 between them. Does Roberts really think this time will be different? Why not give Trayce a shot?
So ... all you have to do to beat this North TJ lineup is walk Soto and the rest gargle balls, right? I mean .... I thought they were gonna win out the season from here on out ....
I'm sure the lack of posts is directly related to the stunning acquisition of Joey Gallo. i get it. Golly, what can one say ?
Oh ... and another thing... this Dodgers "Wolf of Wall Street" head punch thing.... I don't give a shit either way. I mean, sports teams OF ALL AGES have some silly ass, juvenile inside jokes. We had one in high school that was so fucking lame, I cannot remember what we even meant by it now. I know any base hit generated a high-pitched shriek of "MR. O'REILLY!!!!" that was echoed several times after the hitter shouted it out. But I also know that it got into the other teams' heads, who fucking HATED IT. We won league that year and it was mostly great offense. But that little psych play with that shriek ...it had an effect. So.... if other teams want to burn calories worrying about Trea's microphone head pound .... enjoy. Because your heed isn't in the game if you're talking about that nonsense.
That was an absolute master class in pitching by Anderson...best pitched game I saw all year, in a year of superb Dodger pitching. Very, very impressive. Fuckng WOW. Cody looking Phoenix-like.
