Comedy is a great propaganda tool. Ostensibly a punch line, but they were really conditioning the culture to accept that there is nothing wrong with unnatural and sinful sexual behavior. Fast forward 20 years and you had two gay dudes get "married" and adopt a female infant on a family sitcom. Because the characters were written to be funny, we don't even think twice about how perverted that is. Now you have trans kids characters and other freaky stuff. The gay lobby has been forcing this stuff into programming for decades. But as Vin would say after an off topic rant..."anyways, oh and two..."
you lose me there based on my life experiences. i've known gay men that have adopted and raised children. one guy and his husband raised 3 crack babies into responsible young adults. no one else would have wanted these children and these men stepped up. i celebrate them. agree on things becoming absurd and things we are now shown as normal are perverse. but we can disagree on this one.
Understood. I'm not going to pretend that two men providing care to children who otherwise would've been abandoned is not preferable (obviosuly it is), and there is no question that they are capable of raising upstanding citizens. You'll get no argument from me there. But it's still not ideal, and the whole scenario itself is a symptom of a deeper a societal failure. I'm not trying to move the goal post, but should we also affirm same-sex couples creating babies through surrogacy, deliberately depriving the child of a mother or father from the start? Not demanding an answer, but that's where my mind goes. My point is, advocacy groups like GLAD have used TV shows to condition us to accept these arrangements as POSITIVE PROGRESS, when in reality they represent a further breakdown of the natural family...a breakdown caused just as much by heterosexuals with their pre-marital sex, abortions, no-fault divorce, husbands who don't to love their wives, wives who refuse to respect their husbands, etc etc. Not trying to drag you into a conversation you don't want to be in. It was inappropriate for me to make the original comment in this thread. Just wanted to clarify my thought process.
none of this is ideal and extremely complex as far as i can tell. not a lot of absolutes on my part but i think its a bit of leap to jump to surrogacy. although i'm sure its already on the table given the speed of demands coming from alphabet crowd. not dragging me into the convo, far from it. i learn stuff and enjoy the discourse. yeah maybe a mod can toss this in politics?
Japan celebrating our birthday w a little Shohei in there! https://x.com/hokkori_buzz/status/2073201406560076040?s=20
No once-enemy has become a truer-ally than Japan, and that's harder to believe when you realize they are the same people who tortured/raped/murdered 100K+ in Nanjing & Bataan. More than that actually. I'll never trust Russia or China but I think Japan is legit.
It's that bad, too. Total deaths vary between 30K & 400K depending on who & when it's reported. The Chinese have ALWAYS exaggerated numbers in everything but still, it's likely more than 100K there & another 15K at Bataan. And 90% of those fatalities were Filipinos.
they are and they really like us as a people. found that out first hand in Feb. of course the Dodger/LA connection doesn't hurt either. but you get not one inkling that any resentment whatsoever exists from WW2. the world has changed and our values have become similar in this world. now if only the liberals and American blacks could take note but that's a story for another day. probably never. Lenins on sale again.
may have told this before so bear with me if redundant my mom was 100% japanese and as a teenager was thrown into a prisoninterment camp after pearl harbor before that she lived with her mother, father and three siblings on a 5-square mile farm they owned in (what is now) gardena ca upon their eventual release from manzanar they were given back exactly zero instead of returning my grandparent’s property, the government decided to auction it off instead flash forward to the 1960’s when i was born my grandfather had by then started a retail/wholesale nursery operation in compton ca he and my grandmother lived across the street on a two-acre block according to my mom, they were never bitter about what had happened to them and simply moved past it years later, in the early 1980’s our government so eloquently decided they needed to pay restitution to all those japanese families that had been so poorly treated my grandfather had long since passed away, and my grandmother would live only a couple years longer after several months my grandmother finally received a check … it was for $125K, which was the actual value of the land in 1942 when the government had seized it never mind that the land was now (in 1980ish) worth tens of millions … “we took it in 1942, so you get what is was worth in 1942” i was livid i thought my grandmother, mom, aunt and uncles deserved so much more when i asked my mom why she didn’t share the same rage, she said they never expected anything back so they were so grateful to get anything at all her mother and siblings echoed those feelings as well shame on me for feeling so bitter and entitled about something i never suffered through this is exactly what diablo said about the japanese harboring (no pun) no resentment not sure if it helped me at all but it certainly showed me the immense integrity my mother’s side of the family possessed not sure why i felt compelled to post this maybe i was feeling a little patriotic … nah i guess i just miss my mom (and dad)
i think i told you my sister in law was born in Manzanar. they took land and possessions from them as well. her mom passed away in the 90s and her father long before that. they only received that flat 20k most were given. don't remember if any property compensation was there. place operated for 3 year w 10k people. have to figure there's a good chance the Fujinos met your folks.
