    • “It feels like we have to play perfect baseball,” manager Dave Roberts said, via The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya. “And that’s not the way it should be for us to win baseball games.”
    what an idiot
you lost 2/3 against the sub-.500 tigers, both walk-offs
holding onto 9th innings leads would be pretty normal — and not hardly perfect — for even an average team

No not perfect. But just good, smart baseball and make at least a measure of good moves.
You are not equipped in the skills needed presently with this team as it is right now...not enough " sit back and watch it all happen with superstars hitting and pitching".
    Actually, need skills.
Y' know...like a Bruce Bochy...where you get the most out of your players, not accentuate the flaws.

I've already gone into self-preservation mode on this season. This team just can't win with Roberts at the helm, simple as that. Six all-stars... a bounty any team would love to have, and yet the Dodgers keep losing series to teams they should manhandle. Last night they pulled out a win on four hits total. What an onslaught. I was listening on a long car drive but switched to music around the fourth inning - it was just boring the crap out of me. What does Roberts add to this team that any college, AA or AAA manager couldn't add? Seriously.

so rojas wants to be the starting shortstop even after mookie returns
makes perfect sense — especially putting mookie back in RF where he’s best
even roberts agrees… and yet still finds a way to fuck it up…
    • Roberts said he would consider keeping Rojas at shortstop and sending Betts to second base.
i guess heyward needs a spot when he returns to fill the quota

Mookie moving to second would be more about Lux hitting at Taylor/Kike level of suck.

    Logically, yes. Definitely.
But it's that Dave guy...y'know, it could be for a reason no mere Dodger fan can even begin to fathom.

    Yohan Ramirez

April 8 - Mets DFA him and three days later trade him to Baltimore for cash.
May 2 - Orioles DFA him, then he's reclaimed by Mets.
May 15 - Mets DFA him and five days later trade him to Dodgers for cash.
(at this point he's been cut three times in a little more than a month, for those keeping score at home)
May 24 - He faces three batters, throws 13 pitches, only one of which was a strike. He walks one and hits two. All three score.
May 26 - He hits two batters and is visibly upset. Roberts comes out and hugs him, whispers in his ear that he's an elite pitcher. He gets out of the inning. Neverett and Monday make a big deal about this, how Roberts is a player's manager. Ramirez is quoted as saying that a big weight has been lifted off him and now he can just focus on helping the team win.

Roberts keeps going to him in crucial situations, and he's responded with an 0-4 record and 4.08 ERA. He shouldn't even be on the team. He clearly was not good enough to stay on the Mets or Orioles, but here we are, watching Scarecrow bring him in to ruin game after game. He would've had another loss yesterday if the offense didn't rally. My feeling is that after Roberts whispered sweet nothings in his ear, it would look bad if the Dodgers cut him. So they're keeping him on to save face for the one without a brain.

I say all this to reiterate my take: I'd much rather the Dodgers had a manager that will hold his players accountable than one who just wants to be besties with them.

    completely agree
being a manager is not that dissimilar to being a parent — you need to show love, but also have to be willing to discipline
speaking of which, can you imagine roberts as a father…

son: “hey dad, i rolled the range rover. i was pissed off after flunking out of junior college, so i smoked a blunt and drove. oh and mom is in icu, but the doctor believes she’ll eventually recover.”

roberts: “don’t worry son. you just had an off day. but be ready for tomorrow… you’re driving the mercedes.”

sister: “what in the actual fuck?!!! i’m getting straight a’s at ucla, and you won’t let me drive any of the cars!!!”

roberts: “sorry honey, i know your brother is struggling, but he’s come up big for us in the past.”

Dave Roberts removed a rookie pitcher with two outs in the 6th and a runner on against Yainer Diaz for the second consecutive day. For the second consecutive day, it didn't work. Alex Vesia gives up a two-run home run and the Dodgers' lead is down to 3-2.
    Can't make this up.

River Ryan deserved to finish the 6th inning on Sunday. Justin Wrobleski deserved to finish the 6th inning on Saturday. The Dodgers' rookies put together two extremely impressive starts against the Astros in Houston this weekend.

and I hope the Dave guy is rewarded with a handsome extension behind those two moves, especially...those, along with his continued brilliance, are more than deserving of it.
I am supporting him in all his baseball saavy.
    Go Davey !

Robert's solution for looking like shit in Houston was to engineer the jettison of Vargas.

    Prove me wrong.

This team doesn't possess the intangibles to go for the jugular when they have their opponent on the ropes, and that's a direct reflection on the manager and his loosey goosey let's have fun be my friend attitude.

not to mention he suddenly jumps up to head to the mound as soon as his pitching coach gets back to the dugout
i think he's the idiot i saw do that in the last couple of years and tonight he distracts his team and cost them a ball in the count
how humiliating to have someone that lost and retarted managing this club
shame on the Dodgers for keeping this tool around
