Went to the David Byrne concert Friday night. That man IS the Talking Heads. Played about 10 Heads songs. Fantastic show.

 

RIP the great Steve Cropper.

 

Great tune .... but brutal when you realize it's an accounting of Chrissie Hynde's gang rape by English bikers in Britain.

that's interesting but she more or less describes how i imagined it went down if the song had been true
from the first time i heard it i figured she fafo or at least that was how the story went
she was actually describing a rape by Hells Angels likely in Ohio but yeah she sought out trouble and found it and doesn't even blame them
jumping around in your underwear in a biker club is going to get what you're asking for
had Hells Angels on the north and another biker club on the south of the lair
they both liked me and would invite me for beers and i'd go hang out for a couple but always had a reason to leave in 20 minutes
wasn't worried about getting my ass tattooed but danger is clearly more real around those folks especially if you say something wrong

 

I read her book but perhaps I misunderstood it ... she wrote that it happened in Britain. Or maybe not.

Point is .... what a horror to pen that song as a proto-punk masterpiece.

 

they have Angels in the UK so who knows
reading her accounting it sounds like she came to terms with it and even laughs at it now idk
all i do know is i love Chrissie and love that song

stumbled upon this being the number one international download of the band recorded in 13 or something
he blends it w star treatment from 18 but it doesn't really matter since it just sounds great
from simple to complex i just hang on this guys every word
absolutely gifted lyricist out there doing rock star
didn't even know the song existed before Tuesday

This is bitchen. Lots of sounds & styles fusing here ... bits of Bowie, Tom Waits, & Bryan Ferry here ... Morrison & Orbison too. Trance like...

these guys are nearly impossible to get a ticket for all over the globe when on tour
but talking to the average fan of music its like "oh yeah i've heard of those guys" when the conversation comes up
the way he's evolving is really exciting to witness
impossible not to pick up bits and pieces of legends and yet he still manages to sound original and fresh
the last two albums were genius imo
