Absolutely agree. Hepburn was excellent and STILL a distant 3rd to Burton & O'Toole. My kids saw Lawrence of Arabia last month. They're pretty young for the big aspects but it kept their attention nonetheless. Just so good. Nothing today compares.
Ben Hur [1959] is streaming free on Tubi now. If you've never seen it, watch it now. If you have, watch it again. I had my littles do so this weekend & they're still talking about it. Big time Hollywood movies - back when that meant something - don't get better than this. It's worth the nearly three hours. Every bit.
Yep. Evwn with those. They never explained that to Heston up front. And the REALLY gay moments with Boyd that didn't include Heston... those were never shown to him. Two years after the movie screened, Heston confronted Boyd about it. Had to be separated... Charlton was pissed. Can't believe he didn't figure it sooner.
what, i never knew any of this until you just mentioned it and i googled to see what in the metro goldwyn mayer you were talking about! then i thought about making puns about spears in cold dead hands
Very interesting...if I knew how to do it, I would post an Artie Johnson Nazi meme holding a cigarette between his thumb and forefinger.
Watched episode 1 of Netflix's Gabby Petito doc. Captivating but grotesque. Fucking heartbreaking. With three daughters of my own, I've no idea how I'm going to be able to trust any man with one of them. I know. It happens & dire results are very rare ... but it's agonizing to watch this girl on the footage. She could be my daughter.
Fading gigolo was a funny movie if you ever liked a woody Allen flick written by Turturro its quirky and weird but I smiled and laughed at a lot of it
Very true. Hard to find a role he's played that isn't above average to superb. Barton Fink isn't a great film imo but he's excellent in the role.
