@BaseballWRLD_ Shohei Ohtani is now on pace for 13.6 (!!!) bWAR this season. The only season since 1920 that’s topped that is 1923 Babe Ruth at 14.1. There’s a real chance we’re witnessing the greatest season in baseball history.

I love having him on the team. That's one contract that was well worth it. He keeps accomplishing things that were previously thought of as impossible. My only hesitation remains his hitting in clutch situations. I feel a high sense of expectations when he's up early in the game or when there's a big run differential. Late games when Dodgers badly need something big to happen, not so much.
I just looked up his splits for this year, and in his defense, there are some splits in the "clutch" category where his numbers are good. However, two in particular stand out. Batting with 2 outs and RISP, he's hitting .227 and an OPS of .689. And when batting with the Dodgers behind, he's at .250/.759. Not trying to rain on this thread. Maybe those are tougher ABs because pitchers need to bear down more in those situations... or maybe he's trying to do too much and isn't as loose as normal. I still think he brings much more to the table than what he may lack. His pitching alone is so valuable every sixth day. Remember earlier this season we were talking about him being either a pitcher or a hitter -- that he couldn't do both without detracting some from his hitting. He's proving that wrong. Hope he continues on this recent tear and challenges Ruth's WAR record.
