Are they not going to suspend the Patriots player who had a way more dirty hit on Josh Allen? Of course not
His hit was less malicious and he doesn't have the track record. Less malicious because a little DB has to pretty do what he can against 6'5" 240lbs Josh Allen The second that Burfict dipped his head to lead with the crown of his helmet, it was over..and the guy was defenseless whereas Allen was charging forward. It is what it is. This was the risk of making Burfict a captain
Bradley Chubb out for the season ( ACL) The tank is on for sure now Who's better in cold weather..Tua or Herbert? Bronco fans having to trust Elway to find a QB again
Was the launch as much as the blow to the head. He followed through with a forearm that missed. Burfict belongs in a loony bin.
Yeah, the lauch and the lowering of the head and leading with the crown of his helmet instead of a seeing what he was hitting form type of tackle + his history. But I'd stop way short of saying he belongs in a loony bin. If he's going to the loony bin, we have a bunch of old school NFL tough guys on the streets that belong there too. Your Dick Butkus types. Burfict is just old school and he can't get it out of his system. 20 years ago we'd be saying he belongs on the all-pro team annually for getting after it the way he does. He also threw a punch during a play in the Vikings game..more old school business. Off the field, he's soft spoken and a nice guy, teammates love him..that's old school too. A lot of old tough guys from the past eras are the same way..good guys away from the field, but sharks on the field.
All true, but times have changed and Burfict hasn't and that's on him. That hit yesterday was borderline assault.
Surely, it's on him. As you can see, I'm not giving him any excuses with the hit. He did what he did and deserves whatever they give him. It's not even remotely the same as the lil Pats' DB that lowered the boom on big Josh Allen. That was nothin in comparison. Just sayin that it doesn't make him crazy. Makes him old school. He's out of place in this new league, but doesn't need to be locked up. He's a good guy away from the game. That's a step too far
Even though it's a new era, it is still football. Vicious hits in a dangerous game =/= assault. Everybody that's out there knows the dangers of what they're stepping into every game and how nasty it can still be on occasions To his credit, Doyle didn't cry about the hit, said he was fine..that his helmet protected him
There are vicious hits and there are attempts to injure. There's no defense of the shit Burfict pulled and I'm not saying you're defending it.
Ahh, and now I ask you..can you prove his intent to injure? Not that it'd confirm assault if you could, but just saying..you can't. This is not patty cake that they're out there playing. If you really want to get down the knitty gritty of it all..then why not call for assault with what's going on in the trenches on every snap? Guys are getting slapped across the head, in the throat, etc. down there. It's a game, my guy. Keep it context. They're not walking down the street, minding their own business, and Burfict comes out of nowhere and decks them..nope, they're playing a brutal game that he just hadn't adjusted for. At its core, the object of the game is dominate another man..that's the game. Sounds rough..it is. And we love it.
For the love of god, it's time for the Bengals to unhand AJ Green Free that guy Calvin Johnson would probably tell him to quit
Damn right. AJ is a little on the older side now @ 31 or 32, but this era is soft and he'll be good for another 2 or 3 years. One way trip to Vegas
Free Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap too while we're at it. Just send them to the AFC east, so they can end Brady.
Roquan Smith out Sunday? Dan Graziano@DanGrazianoESPN Here’s what little we know on Roquan Smith. Timetable for return is completely up in the air while he deals with a personal issue.
