And hopefully their silly Lev Bell loss is the RAIDERS' gain on the way out of Oakland. Speaking of paydays..Kyler Murray's decision is coming soon as well and it's now expected that he'll choose football/playing QB and the more immediate/greater payday over minor league baseball life with the shitty Oakland A's and less money over the next 5-6 years. Basically the smart move, certainly in this new NFL where he'll be protected and where smaller QB's are now thriving. And this impending news is more than likely going to mean one thing, my good man....that Mark Davis is locked and loaded and about to take this opportunity to fuck both Oakland and the A's royally on the way out of town. Murray pretty much did what he had to do the other day. The game against Bama had to be seen as a positive for his draft stock and he'll test well and likely look good enough at the combine to rise even more in an overall shoddy QB draft class. Don't be surprised if Murray goes as high as #4 overall in the draft on the heels of Mayfield's success. Storming back after absorbing Bama's initial punch, obviously coaches love that competitive spirit and will to win, traits that an undersized guy should surely have. He has less overall experience than Mayfield had, but Georgia's defense eventually made Mayfield look pedestrian much of the time in the '17 semi-final too. SEC can do that to you. No harm, no foul. Saw the 1st mock draft with the RAIDERS taking Murray at the back of the 1st round this AM and got a little excited. Made me call my family in LV for some insight and yep, the " Kyler Murray/Las Vegas RAIDERS " winds are blowing. Tie that to more rumors of the Giants' interest in trading for Carr before the draft, after they cut Eli and save that $18MM cap hit during free agency, and it's starting to feel like a real possibility. Murray's style of play definitely feels like a fit for LV, at least. However tall he is, 5'9" or 5'10", he's not far enough off from Russell Wilson's height to just ignore him if and when he declares. Really good arm and anticipation as a passer, reportedly sub- 4.40 speed and high character? No Cam Newton/Any Given Sunday/Willie Beamen foolishness? Lol I wouldn't mind Carr sticking and getting a 2nd year in a system for once, but Chucky and Mayock probably prefer to tab their own QB anyway and I could see them doing that a year ahead of the LV move so the kid isn't a rookie starter come that time. Feels like the Chucky/MD/Mayock trio will be all aboard the Kyler Murray train, but we'll see. Solid chance he's the next big thing, the way the NFL is so spread out now, looking like the college game.
Many points lumped together, some more in tune than others IMO Let's start with Strike 1. Reality check = Mark Davis did not / does not have .02% of Al Davis savvy. No real reply possible judging harshly on the bowl haircut but that's still only one strike Color me surprised if this happens but ... stranger things have happened In complete agreement here. The kid has talent and mettle to spare. He'll need it because the NFL crushes even the toughest. In contrast the MLB will permit a decades long career with perhaps a blister or two but little else. This matters to some more than others And yet we were just reading that Chucky and Carr have a budding bromance.. times are fickle.. and the tRaiders are more so.. anything is possible And yet he is exactly short enough that most competent NFL GM's will do exactly that. Linemen are routinely 6'4" to 6'6" so see the Doug Flutie reference rather than Russell Wilson.. Strike 2?? Yeah I have to agree Carr has been working from a very uneven playing field. OTOH Chucky is a basket case of his own color and his volatility is legend. Carr's career might be better served in NY if one could actually say such a thing Overall you make good points and too much relies upon wholly erratic bowl cut boy and ego case Chucky so I'm not covering bets in either direction. We'll see but Vegas will be a good change of scenery either way.
The Kyler Murray topic is definitely a rabbit hole of sorts An undeniable truth in a general sense. But much like MD's current run, what I'm getting at is pretty much already on 3rd base. The heavy lifting has already been done You think this QB class is strong enough to keep him from shooting up the board and/or being the top QB picked? I can't blame you. I thought last year's QB class was strong enough to keep Mayfield from being the top QB selected It does. And the argument can be made both ways..the prospects of a longevity driven career in MLB aren't terrible. I think the NFL offers more notoriety though, and with that, more endorsements if he hits it big as a quarterback. Quarterback is the pinnacle in sports. Even if he only ends up being a quality backup, that's a $10MM a year job It'll be interesting to see what he chooses to do. I imagine he'll have to get a promise or two in the Top 15 to bypass baseball completely. He's talked about wanting to play both sports, but that's not going to happen, not if he's playing quarterback, that is. You can pull it off as a RB or a DB, but not QB. QB is a full time gig Yep, Mayock made no promises in his presser, but Carr didn't slam the door shut in that final game either, so it is what it is. Could probably swing any way right now. There's always a price Not in this new NFL era. At least, not the teams that need for a QB anyway. Quite a bit of teams already have their guy @ QB, but there are enough openings/potential openings at QB to feel good about Murray's chances. Giants, Jags, Skins, Denver, Cincy and Miami could all use Kyler Murray. And then a new RAIDER regime that's likely to grab their own QB at some point as well. Odds are he'll be selected much sooner than Russell Wilson was Maybe. Think that could be the Giants' theory as well. Although, Carr will have to watch out for the banana peel in NY. He's plenty capable of screwing up himself, can really only look at himself for all of the injuries he's incurred and there's a big time diva waiting in NY as well in OBJ Consider those things and then add to it, basically, a loaded semi-automatic. That's pretty much what they have given their draft capital and cap space and that's before potentially moving Carr's salary as well. So much can change for the better, or much worse..I wouldn't mind finding a little middle ground here. But admittedly, " middle ground " would be Dwayne Haskins and not Murray. And I'm not sure if LV is going to do middle ground all that well
Not too happy with this Ryan Grigson addition to the RAIDER FO His roles have been getting smaller and smaller since the Colts fired him..hopefully that continues
Fu*k me, are they kidding? After blowing their wad on Alford rather than Shaka Smart and Brad Stevens, they are going for a train wreck of a coach? Just shoot me now.
Mahomes doesn't have me confident, I am a Chiefs fan. like you said, 20 fucking years. lost to the Colts like 3-4 times in that span. Before the Titans debacle there was the being up 38-10 on the Colts shit and half the team getting hurt and blowing it. the Chiefs are basically the Dodgers of the NFL
I consider this doubtful, Dan Guerrero has the final say and to his own fault, that is not a road he can go down.
Pitino fresh off a hell of a NCAA scandal and still in demand. Good god. And for a prestigious gig at that. The fact that this UCLA/Pitino stuff even got leaked..that program has fallen so damn far
Fair enough. I'll go with illustrious then. And maybe that's too much as well They definitely lose prestige points when they're " pushing for " a Pitino
I’m not but the Colts have been on fire lately and worried me more before they beat the crap out of Tennessee
Luck's play gets most of the attention, but the turnaround of their defense and O line is remarkable.
Pretty much. And Luck deflects the attention, so it's a perfect marriage team chemistry wise. Safe to say that Quentin Nelson is a beast. Can't wait to see Nelson and Quinnen Williams match up in the coming years
