I know pratically no one will respond to this thread. No one hardly ever does when I start one, I guess they suck and are not interesting or discussion worthy, but Bud announcing his retirement is interesting to me. With all the play-off makeovers and the ASG winning advantage of home field that everyone will post about, IMO, his cowardice in light of what came about during his tenure has forever tarnished BB and they way Americans think of it...and when kids are of age, they will express disbelief when they know what was all about. Unless it all has changed that much. It has been the antithesis of Jackie Robinson and all it has meant to the game and the country's mind set, IMO. It was Selig's cowardice in the face of it all that allowed it to fester like a rampant infection. It's good to rid of (or at least have the departure date) for a coward in charge. Lord, let it be someone with some balls and honor, and someone who thinks umpiring needs to be looked at very closely. If this is HoF manager, Joe Torre's new job, then goodbye cruel world. Know that I tried.
I'm glad selig is gone. We need a new face. Selig is a bit tarnished. Not everything he did was bad IMO, but he let way too many really bad things go on and on before making a change. I'm referring to PED use and bad umpiring. The point that he did change it is great, but for me he's too late. The other problem is the AS game deciding WS location. Lame. I really like the wild cards and all though.
great post bz bud has always been a lackey for the owners i do applaud him for expanding the playoffs but for me, personally, interleague play suck donkey balls liked the balanced schedule of the 70's/80's unfair to wildcard teams if one has to battle the red sox and the other gets the astros :soapbox: but for those about to rock, we salute you!!!
I didn't really have much of a problem with interleague play when it was organized. Now since there's 15 teams in both leagues, it can happen whenever. I do like the playoff system. Couldn't imagine being a fan when only the top 2 teams made the playoffs. Talk about lame and boring. Selig is pretty meh for me. Don't really care tbh. He's had his fair share of dumb moves, but at least he helped get McCourt out of here (after allowing him to be owner in the first place).
Bud swept steroids under the rug. Handed the Dodgers to McLoan Made a mockery of the All Star game Moved the EXPOS!! Cannon balled post season coverage so those without the means of cable CAN'T watch all of it. Sold his soul to FOX Shit his pants in regards to Arod Gave in to all owners demands since he was an owner. Just like them. The steroids ignorance is his legacy and if MLB blows the Arod grievance, Bud's legacy will be a joke. Good riddance asshole. Now that Bud is FINALLY leaving. Pete Rose might finally make it into the Hall.
He said he would retire after the labor deal. This piece of shit won't leave his office until they stuff his corpse in a body bag.
in perspective, the extra WC is not that bad... the ASG thing is simply lame, but no one will die because of it... his biggest stain will be how he ignored the steroids issue for so long (even tho its not as bad as other sports that simply refuse to face it)... I'm happy he's leaving, as the game sure needs fresher eyes... baseball keeps losing ground to football and even college sports... they need to make it America's pastime again...
Fuck Bud in the ass with a rusty railroad spike. I hope he gets a ricin cigarette for his retirement. He is a pimple on the ass of baseball.
