Dum dum took hanley out when he had a good chance at another AB. Didn't even put Arruebarrena in either
Well, that was good! Everybody hits. It shows what this team can do when they have a few key players just do something....didn't even need Puig last night. If only these explosions weren't all in one game...just about half would be fine, and bring in the other 6 runs today for Greinke. But that's the way it is. It was a little tedious hearing Karros, I guess it was, say 47 times that Cumpton wasn't getting "hit hard" and that the LAD were lucky they were scoring with ground balls. I mean maybe in the very beginning it was somewhat true, but are you kidding me? 12 runs. I guess he missed Ramirez and his 2 HRs. Or Butera's shot about two inches below the wall...or Dee's triple. I don't hate the Pirates, really. I give them credit for playing the way they do after all those seasons of being down. But fuck Hurdle. he made a big thing over nothing in the first inning with Dee and that catch/drop. then , when he clearly had a legit challenge with Ethier's shot, he couldn't do shit. And IDK what everyone else thinks, but he clearly caught the ball...no doubt. Hurdle deserved it I thought. Gotta win today, regardless of what the Giants do. We are at the stage of this season that we can't worry about them and must get back into a winning way; that's all we can do is win. In September we can watch the scoreboard and how they are doing...right now, let's get it together. And very impressed with Harrison and Cole. Good ballplayers, along with Walker. Now let's get this split.
I really hope they've finally turned it around. But usually after big wind this year they fuck up the next day.
funny enough, Hanley's only raked at a MVP level for about that long in his stay with LAD. he was hitting .245 when we got him from Miami and he hit .275 the rest of the way that year. the fact is, we have a shit load invested in our pitching and they're probably gonna make a run at Price or Scherzer + Urias is on the way too, so if the organization is moving to a more defensive look i think that should be celebrated. Hanley's gonna suck at 3B defensively as well..we have plenty of young options behind him. so unless he's gonna rake at an MVP level..the Dodgers should move on. investing 100M+ in him is a shot in the dark. i'd rather see that money spent on Scherzer.
all that said..it was good too see Hanley break out yesterday. however, if he doesn't follow it up tonight, and going forward, it means nothin. having Seager and adding a couple other options in the form of almost 60M invested last off-season..that's competition and if Hanley can't handle competition and " contract year pressure " then i don't know if he's the right fit for us anyway. Giants and Cards..all they do is hit in the clutch/drive runners in when they're in scoring position. if we can't do that, we don't stand a chance.
Speaking of Hanley.....good article on dodger digest this morning about his hitting so far this season. http://dodgersdigest.com/2014/06/01/fastball-struggles-hanley-ramirezs-future-in-the-box/
I don't believe he will be bad at the corner. In fact I think he would be much better there and it would save his legs
Morris the guy who pitched yesterday for the Pirates was traded for a draft pick in Thursday's draft. I don't think I ever remember the Dodgers ever trading for a draft pick just usually ptbnl or cash. Anyone?
