what? how does that make sense? it opened up signing McCarthy, Anderson & trading for Rollins, Kendrick
Umm, no. In my mind those guys were never in play except in the wishful thinking of fans or perhaps propaganda rumors to drive prices up. Perhaps Hamels was talked about but I doubt it ever progressed far because Amaro wanted Kastens first born male child. Trading Kemp was supposed to open up opportunities to improve the defense and dispel the outfield controversy. Mission accomplished.
I seriously hate what they've done with the back of the rotation. I wanted guys who would eat innings and not get injured at the back of the rotation and they did the exact opposite. I don't want to see Frias and Patterson starting for us at some point next season.
i'm going to try to remain cautiously optimistic on this one the yankees and a's were in on him too, so... he could end up being one of those under-the-radar* acquisitions *was going to say a steal, but at $10MM...
almost completed. still gotta move Ethier. but it's just a matter of time. funny enough DBB was on Hot Stove this morning and he didn't even mention Ethier, but he did mention Heisey, SVS and Grandal and how they'll be able to keep CC and AGon fresh when they need days. which makes a lot of sense since Heisey is a righty who hits righties better than he does lefties.
That kind of guy isn't really available anymore, unless it's by trade. Personally I would of rather they gave a shot to Zach Lee/Windel for the 5th spot. Anderson I'm okay with but that McCarthy signing still has me scratching my head.
Windle's headed to Philly, but i agree with the idea..just with maybe Chris Anderson getting a look instead. i know it's gonna be Reed though. all i can think of is maybe they're trying not to expose Lee because maybe they wanna move him. the McCarthy signing is what it is for me..he was gonna get 4yrs from somebody eventually and they really wanted his 52% ground ball rate matched with our new infield. i'm looking for 170-180 innings out of McCarthy. if i'm not mistaken he's been up around that number 3 out of the last 4yrs. if he gives us 2 good years before they deal him, i'd call it a win.
his Twitter say anything about a completed trade? they're dragging out the completion of this Rollins' trade in a major way.
