He was a part of the most epic late collapse in baseball history and then a last place team. The sox won another title the year after he was traded. It's fine that you don't put stock in leadership and only focus on stats. The fact remains he's been on paper champions, playing under 3 different managers the last several years and has nothing to show for it. Leadership isn't about what your numbers look like, it's about getting the most out of your teammates and holding them accountable. This simply doesn't happen with him and the dodgers could really use it
you said that in your 1st post..so what's your point? i put stock in leadership. for reasons already stated, your point is just bullshit.
Haaa gtfo tryin to " school me on leadership ". again, that Boston team had former champs on it along with a great manager. they just did exactly what they've done since they won their last title which is go into the tank with the same guys that won. pinning the blame on a super-productive Gonzalez is just stupid. gotdamn, son. you never cease to amaze. see yourself outta here.
the Dodgers are not meeting my expectations because gotdamnit i expected Corey Seager to be up already.
So we're just putting the blame on Adrian, someone who we've never heard a bad thing about, when there were other guys in the Red Sox clubhouse who were also part of that epic collapse? Just say you don't like A-Gon and this argument makes more sense than trying to blame A-Gon. I know you're just a troll, but come on, you gotta put up better arguments than that.
Complaining that a first-place team isn't meeting expectations sounds a bit diva. Sure, I want the team to go 162-0, but first place and a spot in the playoffs without mortgaging future seasons is the first step, and so far so good.
LOL....we have the highest payroll by $65M to the second place team. The difference is almost great enough to pay for all of the Marlins salary. How some of you are OK with being where we are is crazy to me, flat out crazy. I understand that we have had injuries, but which team doesn't? Which team doesn't go through adversity? It's a fucking joke for us to be where we are. We should be significantly better than we have been.
Bingo! There it is. Remember when the GuggenGods took over and said that they wanted to be competitive NOW, and build the team for the future? Well, that is exactly what you are witnessing. This team is still in transition from the McCourt/Colletti Dodgers to the Friedman/Zaidi Dodgers. the transition is still a year or two from completion. I understand the win now sentiment, and I want to win now too...but until the new draft movement matures, and the International signings develop, this team is still incomplete, development wise. The team you see now is not a finished product... sad to say that by the time it is finished Agon and Either, among others will be gone. I hope Grienke comes to his senses and is still here to witness it, but I doubt it. I won't be too upset if this isn't THE team, because I believe THE team will be much, much better.
Won't argue about all this "I'm righter than you are" birdseed, which has hijacked so much of this site, but what would you say the reason is for the present Boston situation then?
All the FO machinations, manuevers, depth building, comparisons to the Steingrabber Yankees, penis envy for the "machine-like" Cardinals, etc.,etc. Would be much better off emulating the most successful organization in recent history, the fucking San Francisco Giants...so sad to say. By far the best. Maybe it's the home grown core...IDK...but whatever they're doing, they sure know how to do it better than anyone else around. Douchebags. IMHO... Or, of course, it's Puig's blister, Jimmy Rollins, or the "toxic" Adrian Gonzalez that keeps us from the promised land.
yeah but not exactly.. there is however an element of the truth when you consider that the more recent trade of fat Uribe for aging slowing but still more versatile Callaspo looks good on paper but was atrocious from a dugout leadership perspective. Callaspo brings almost zero in the leadership column having been only a mediocre journeyman infielder who has been shopped around 6 teams in 9 years. 6 teams in 9 years does not a leader make. Far from it. This guy has been cast aside by everyone. Fat Uribe whom I was never really a fan of until he finally lit it up in the latter part of his final contract year has always been a gregarious clubhouse leader encouraging and scolding Puig and the younger players. Uribe could get Puig to listen better than DBB, solely because of his excellent clubhouse leadership. And he was a rock solid 3B on D. Therefore in my eyes, despite whatever Sabermetrics might insist, the trade was a disaster because Callaspo's fielding versatility is not enough to offset Uribe's clutch hitting, stout D and huge clubhouse presence.
All you can expect is to make the playoffs. That's all the FO can ensure. Are they on the path to the playoffs? Yes. Division? Yes, even better. Now it's just finding roles for guys and hopefully acquiring a starter or two that can make two or three postseason starts, honestly. So... Are they playing up to expectations? No. But is FO worried? I seriously doubt it.
Yeah the front office no doubt thinks that things are fine... though rumors are that Farhad surfs Dodger blogs for tips (ssshhh don't tell B2B) LOL
Callaspo is most likely getting DFA'd once Olivera is ready. They most likely traded Uribe so they could get something of return with the two minor leaguers they sent over instead of just cutting him. He didn't have a spot on the team with the way Turner has been playing.
My frustration has been mostly with the bullpen, but that is most attributed to how great they were early in the season. It looked like we had really found some gems, then over a couple week stretch, they began to flounder. It looked like that took a bit of a toll on the team and that's when the struggles started popping up. In truth, this team has not really started clicking yet. Early it was AGon, Ethier and Howie, then Puig and Yas, then Joc, then it was Turner all on an island by himself with AGon and Yas picking it back up again. I'm waiting for when we get 4+ guys really rolling and no more Rollins wasting away at the bottom. We've seen flashes from this offense, but if they really start to click, good lord look out.
