They stiff-armed Ethier again. Zobrist is a good pickup for them. They could probably use another OF too, though. Probably Bruce.

Guys, we all know what's gonna happen.

Philly is gonna want the world for Hamels, and we won't give it to them. Hamels will end ip in Texas for a deal that is basically Hamels for a bag of baseballs. We'll complain.

Detroit will be stubborn and say fuck this, we're still in it guys, and not trade David Price, only to lose the next five games and feel like shit. They will then put him on waivers and the giants will grab him. We'll complain.

St. Louis wins the World Series after sweeping us in the NLCS. We all drink the kool aid.

I wonder if this FO is suffering from paralysis by analysis. They're so used to trying to outsmart other teams because they had no money, that they don't know what to do with assets and a crap load of money.

Really? I'd say they made pretty good use of 30M and semi-restored Kemp value in that deal with Preller. That was a start.

Yeah, but the Kemp deal in hindsight is a good one, but at the time, that was risky and seen as a bit of a salary dump.....trade star player for bits of others.

Besides, I'm not taking about off season. I'm talking about this trade deadline, which will be their first as Dodger FO people.

Once Cueto was gone, the others left on the block will probably command more in a trade because the big names left are still under contract. They'll command a higher price.

This is the same kind of stuff that was being said in the offseason when the first moves were just acquiring Bolsinger and Peralta... then BAM everything else happened.

And actually, they've already shown they know how to use the assets and money. They've used money to pretty much just buy players and draft picks from trades

I think the dumbass Cubs really screwed everything up Hamels wise.....that start alone might make his price too high

Maybe they did it on purpose knowing we wanted him. If they can't get him, no one will. Haha.

Nobody can " command " anything from the Dodgers. The Dodgers have the best 2 pitchers in the NL leading their starting staff and really only need a viable Game 3 option. That Game 3 option doesn't have to be an ace. Many teams have won World Series titles without 3 aces. Adding a 3rd ace doesn't guarantee anything. Kasten knows this well. The Braves had 3 aces ( 4 at one point), went to the post 13 or 14 straight times and won it all once.

Even with the current injuries, the Dodgers are dealing from a position of strength. They can do anything they want...they can even listen to offers on Puig. Unlike so many of these other teams, they're set up to make runs at this thing for the foreseeable future. No, the window isn't small or closing. They're not just gonna overpay in farm assets to make something/anything happen.

If Amaro were heading things, I'd agree. I'll give MacPhail the benefit of the doubt until I see otherwise.

Cole Hamels will NOT pitch Thursday as scheduled. He's scheduled for Friday, but that's after the deadline. Phils don't want to risk it.

    Available immediately if acquired

We have a closer. Arizona doesn't and even if they got him their starters aren't good enough to get to him at this point.
