Well we lost all those games against the two WC teams, if that s the way it all finishes. And add in SD, for good measure. No matter who the Nats had to face. So, no matter what, if those teams we have to face have our number, then what can be said? Who the Nats face is irrelevant. Just more excuses, I think. How did we do against AZ, CO, Wash, CHC ? I guess we didn't play the AL frontrunners. How do we fare against Bos, Cleve., Hou, NYY, etc.??? Hard to say... I think, at peak, we can beat anyone...but we have to get there first. Still a ways away, imo.
Sweet. The Logan against righties experiment is over. After only mere months they've figured out this guy is hopeless. Well done F.O.
good news, our hitters have pretty own jackson bad news, not as much as wash owns pussy boy i called out darvish and he responded now it's time for you to step up wood...
looks like the making of two bullpen games... • Jackson has struggled in his 2 outings this month, giving up 10 runs (9 earned) in 9 innings. • Wood has averaged 3.4 innings in his last 4 starts, and has not made it through the 4th inning his last 3 outings.
Could see Wood's demise coming. Was worried that coming off of only 60 innings last year that he wouldn't have the endurance to make it through a full season and he is completely breaking down now. He's lost 3 MPH on his fastball and he is starting to get pounded the second and third times through the order. There was an article today talking about how it may be time to move him to the pen and utilize him as an elite back of the bullpen arm to pair with Jansen and Morrow. It would blow not having what we originally thought would be a 4 headed monster in the playoffs, but going Kershaw, Darvish, Hill would be the best 1-2-3 we have had since Ryu was last healthy with Greinke on board. Could go to Wood in the 7th for an inning to bridge to Jansen, or in a must win, could go 2 to Wood, 1 to Morrow and 2 to Jansen meaning we would only need a lead after 4 if the pen is somewhat rested(not taxed the night before). I like the idea of going to Ryu or Maeda to start game 4, but tell them they are going going 2, 3 innings tops. When both were throwing short stints, they ratcheted it up a bit. Ryu was more consistently low 90's and Maeda was 94-95 with the same movement. I doubt that the FO would do it, but in the event that Wood gets shelled again tonight, this is something to think about.
