Yikes. Dude is desperate using that lame slider now to try and get outs. Guys look pretty comfortable in the box and I'll guess his swing and miss percentage isn't what it used to be. A lot of contact. Weak or otherwise. How quickly they lose their dominance. Don't say it, VRP...
Spectacular K to W rate a thing of the past. In fact, pretty much a K of anyone at all a rarity now. As long as it gets done.
There were a couple pitches that guys missed that could have been headed towards Burbank airport. Glad they did, although the Astros didn't.
when his cutter is working he’s still dominant problem is it’s usually not kenley doesn’t strike me as the sharpest guy... that balk yesterday was a combo of stupidity/sloth/cluelessness kinda like kenley himself
When closers lose it, they lose it quickly. Not everyone is Mariano Rivera. That is what scares me about Kenley. I don’t want to see Kenley blowing saves toward the second half of the season and into the post-season if we get there.
The swing and miss isn't what it was a year ago, but he's still converted something like 18 straight saves after the shitty start and the organization doesn't have anyone nearly good enough to replace him. But I'll admit my personal comfort level when he enters a game isn't what it used to be.
I'm just sort of muttering to myself that Kenley is saving the good shit for when it matters. Delusional? Likely. But that's the only time that I really give a shit. Stretch his arm so he can go 5-6 outs? Sure, why not? But his velocity is weak and his command just sucks some days and I'm not even ranting about that last blown 2 out 0-2 save. He seems to be 'regular season' pacing himself... which has all sorts of implications
Until Friday night he hadn't blown a save since mid May. He's not the overpowering Kenley of a year ago (and past), but he's been plenty effective and it's not like the Dodgers have anyone close to replacing him.
