Vogel will figure something out he's made his rep on coaching defense. Plans are always subject to change. I like the thought of him at least trying the point, doesn't hurt. Who plays where is the least of my worries as well, our outside shooting is the KEY to our season.
The way I saw it breaking down a few weeks ago would be LeBron at PG, Caruso at SG for his jumper, defense on PG and secondary facilitator with Green at SF for his 3-D and AD at PF with Javale as the rim protector. That leaves a second team with Boogie and Kuzma as the focal points with Kuzma replacing LeBron and Boogie replaced AD in the offense. They will have Rondo setting them up or one of the 5 combo guards on the team.
Add to that - free throw shooting and health I feel like this LeBron/starting point guard thing could also be a way of telling Rondo to buzz off. I mean, that'd give them 4 point guards. How many does a team need, really?
I don't think we need him. Saw a blurb that said the Presti will tear up the deals that FA's agreed to with the Thunder can be rescinded since they traded PG. Did you see that and who were they rumored to have signed?
Alec Burks had agreed to a deal in OKC and that got torn up. He's with GSW now. Muscala's deal with OKC may or may not get torn up, seems like he's in limbo right now LAL may elect to leave the last roster spot open in case an opportunity arises later in the season. The rotation is pretty much full at this point, so yeah, Korver would be sitting a bunch unless the rash of injuries were to begin again
at the moment, current roster: PG Caruso, Cook, Rondo SG Green, KCP, Bradley, Daniels F Lebron F Davis, Kuzma, Dudley, Horton-Tucker C Cousins, McGee
Cousins starting gives the lineup another great passer. Let's hope the year after the return is even more productive, the norm for the achilles injury. Would be the steal of free agency. Especially considering what Milwaukee gave Lopez and the Clips gave Zubac. Smh
Javale has better shot blocking skills and he can do more of the dirty work for AD. Cousins would feast against other teams second units and put up numbers quick. He can then be part of the closeout lineup when it counts. I dont think they want Rondo starting or being a main focal point. But as the second unit ringleader making sure Boogie is getting fed in the paint... he is perfect for that. Pair them in the 2nd unit and add a shooter or two and Kuzma running and flying as the slasher/swingman and maybe Dudley as the enforcer/dirty work guy and you have a 2nd unit that can compete against many teams 1st units. Paint Protector: Javale, Cousins Power Wing: Davis, Dudley Combo Wing: Green, Kuzma Lead Guard: LeBron, Rondo Combo Guards: Caruso, Bradley, Daniels, KCP, Cook Those positions are set perfectly in terms of sharing playing time. SG on this team is more of a flex position where you use the guy who best helps the team matchup with the competition.
Chris HaynesVerified account@ChrisBHaynes Yahoo Sources: San Antonio reaching out to other free agent wings with Marcus Morris contemplating backing out of agreement to accept New York’s offer. Actually hope he stays with them. They'll probably need all the help they can get to make the playoffs next season. And they need to make the playoffs. Don't want any bullshit draft lottery miracles bailing Pop out
Keith SmithVerified account@KeithSmithNBA Per league sources, Rajon Rondo's contract with the Los Angeles Lakers contains a Player Option for the 2020-21 season. This gives Rondo a de facto no-trade clause because he'll have Early Bird rights after this season
If I'm being naive, I guess it's on me, but why does a team with KL and PG13 suddenly become the co-favorites to win a championship? It might be recency bias, but PG13 isn't on the same talent level as AD. KL is a stud, no doubt, but other than KL and Robin (PG13), you have Lou Williams, who will get less shots I suppose in the new hierarchy. The others....I'm just not completely sold. They played GS but lets face it, GS had already checked out and was looking at the finals. GS had been losing its focus on certain teams all season long. I would not extrapolate the playoffs with world beaters. And although KL is a stud.....a GS team at full strength beats Toronto in a 7 game series 10 out of 10 times. It took a KD injury and then an Achilles blow out and a torn ACL from Klay that got the chip. BTW, I'm not saying a Lakers chip is a lock. I'm just saying how the Clips leapfrogged over so many other teams. The Clips maybe a 2nd round loser.
If they decide to go ahead and fill the last roster spot, a long wing/defensive energy guy could be of use. Maybe bring Corey Brewer back as a guy they could use in a pinch. Or Iman Shumpert
