Yep, I think the Luke Walton experience with that team proves coaching isn't what matters with that group. Luke is horrrrrrible. They're going to lose the next 4 and he'll be gone.
Nope, he doesn't. And I would welcome him if LAL is going to continue down this path with the kids. They need an authoritative figure. He's not perfect and he has some weird beliefs, but Mark Jackson's presence is felt and he's respected. Believe that. At least once a season, Draymond smacks Steve Kerr in the back of his head like Uncle Phil used to smack Carlton, and he puts Kerr in his place. Lakers' problem is that they're trying to raise kids, but they have an end game coach in place. Put enough high end vet talent around Luke and he'll be fine, like most coaches. Part of this LAL job, though, is heavy lifting and raising the youth properly. Granted, raising youth is easier if you have an actual alpha among the group of kids..which Kuz is trying to be, but he's not. Kuz's mind for the game, and being a scorer/star, is still developing. This is all new for him, so asking him to also lead a group of young players is a tough one. Draymond was the alpha for Mark Jackson and it helped make raising that group a bit easier, so it's not like Jackson had the toughest gig, but he did a good job because he also had to gain Draymond's respect and commitment. Need at least one guy from the core of young players that will hold the others accountable. Especially if the coach is soft ala Luke. I think Hart tries, but he's not good enough and he's not going to challenge guys daily like a Draymond, so Hart's voice is meh. Coaching wise, I don't really know who the perfect fit is for a team that's trying to do multiple things at once. Put a staff together that can encompass as many of these things as possible....or not and just trade the youth and keep your end game coach. Funny enough, Mark Jackson basically did the hard work..while Kerr was basically spotting up in the corner for an open 3 pointer
I don’t think he’s Pop but he’s maximized the talent on his roster and plays optimized lineups consistently, which is better than 80% of the coaches in the league
Warriors, in a league where anyone worth a shit makes the playoffs, had reached them only once in 18 yrs before Jackson took over. They were a mess.
Can't disagree with you. A scheduled firing. I can imagine Magic turning to Riles for advice, and that Riles - still a Laker at heart - will help his main man Magic out and clue him in on a couple under the radar targets I think Fizdale would've been a nice hire, but that ship has obviously sailed..maybe the 1st name Riles would spit out and then they both could have a laugh at Jeanie's expense
In fact, you know what..Mark Jackson for LAL coach. He deserves a shot to take GSW down. He built it, and they cast him aside and took a shit on his name in the process. Let's get him in there. I bet he'd be motivated to get the most out of this young core. Mark may actually have more FA pull as well..for Klay. Another familiar face for Klay, but one that really mattered in his development
And how hard is it to get those optimized lineups out there consistently when you have 4 all stars? All you really need is one superstar to help you put together a solid functioning rotation, but he has 2 superstars and a couple/few all-stars sprinkled around them. Plus, high end vets like Iggy and Livingston. Safe to say that more than 80% of the league wishes their rotation/white board had all that on it
well all those guys are hypocrites lol "if he's holding it high he's telling a lie" didn't hear about that part but did it enter into his dismissal?
Clint Capela out 4-6 weeks Huge break..but obviously, LAL could still get their asses handed to them on Saturday in HOU Can look over literally no one after these recent losses
Instead of the big splash go a little lower key for a PG that can shoot and move Lonzo to a backup role where he can become a point forward/defensive specialist off the bench. Kemba Walker can be had. Pair him with Butler in the off-season. A team with shot blockers in the paint plus a premiere PG and some 3nD guys and LeBron is right up Thibs alley.
Feels like Zo already has more career dunks than Kidd LAL had better put Zo on Lavine tonight. Don't waste his defense on Dunn..even though Dunn is having an OK season
8 turnovers. It's the 1st quarter. Or early 2nd. Feels like the 1st quarter, score 27-24 Ryan WardVerified account@RyanWardLA 3m3 minutes ago If this is truly a must-win game for the #Lakers (Luke Walton), they certainly aren't playing like it. Sloppy play. No energy. Turnovers galore (8).
Statement game tonight, Warriors @ Denver, #1 seed on the line.. Warriors score 50+ pts in the 1st quarter and beat the hell out of them in Denver Smh
