I think you're short changing Toles arm. He has a gun, especially for a LF. Not in the Puig category, but a gun nonetheless. Reddick normally throws well, too. Just not last night.
Nah, he ripped a double but it ended well for us with Werth getting thrown out. Just watched the replay again, and Werth looked slow all the way around the bases.
Yeah I agree that Werth looked gassed and wanted to stop at 3B Think that coach keeps his job this winter?
I hope that grease ball Werth tweaks his entire body doing one of those soccer drama catches in the outfield.
Ethier or Kendrick don't cut that ball off before it hits the wall IMO. Toles is who we want in LF man, the guy finding a way to get on base saved our arse.
Lost in all the balk ramblings by Harold Reynolds, how good is Urias's move to 1B? Wow, I didn't realize it was so good. That's usually something pitchers develop as they've been in the league for a while, not something you expect from a just-20 year old. I'm not an expert on balks, but it seems like if his move is a balk it's a balk by inches and can be ironed out in a short amount of time - it's that head move home that really makes it devastating. That move is part of the reason Werth wasn't even close to scoring on Zimmerman's double.
Harold Reynolds rambling about a balk was just excruciating. Just shut up about it. His leg kick crossing "the plane" of his other leg was by an inch at most, and the camera angle may also have had something to do with it. Bottom line, it wasn't clear enough to the umps to call it a balk. Other bottom line, that makes it one of the nastiest pick off move in the majors. Fooled good base runners when they weren't even thinking about stealing. All by someone who is so young. I mean the balls to make that kind of pick off in Game 5 of your first playoff game?!?! I think we have a real wonder in Urias. That is what Reynolds should be rambling about.
I thought about that too. Everything we saw on TV was at an angle, and it was it was hard to definitively tell. If the Nationals thought it was a clear balk, Dusty should have been out there arguing with the umpires. Nevertheless, that move is nasty and it doesn't rely on that inch or two from his front leg.
I've been grinning like an idiot all day. I've never seen a team visibly will itself to victory so selflessly in baseball maybe ever, namely Kershaw and Kenley. I hope these idiots get it done.
Does anyone know if FS1 ever replays a game. I want to get another recording of the game...even if it is a shortened version of it.
Pretty sure arguing a balk by a manager is an automatic ejection, just like arguing balls ans strikes.
BTW, the post game interview with Werth in the locker room...talking about the send to home, I couldn't help but notice there are a TON of bottles of something behind him the the locker. I mean a TON. Hmmmmm......
