Had no LBJ or AD on the floor to start the 4th, but at the very least the others should have been able to go score for score with the Suns to keep the stars seated. The fact that LBJ and AD had to go back into that game..very disappointing. Kind of shit that makes you want Kobe and Pelinka to push the button and go get Waiters. At least Waiters would get buckets and put blowouts on ice. Avery Bradley and Quinn Cook, out. Darren Collison and Dion Waiters, in. I'd be cool with that. Clippers left Bradley alone in the corner way too many times on Xmas. Shoot better or gtfo. Lakers can't afford to play 4 on 5 for 20 minutes in the conference finals. Get Collison in here and both Rondo and Bradley can unhand some of those minutes
I'll never forget when Jim Rome was grilling David Stern about the lottery being potentially fixed and Stern comes out of nowhere and says "Have you stopped beating your wife?" Just an epic KO. Leave it to Twitter to find the clip: https://twitter.com/Dubs408/status/1212480511228039168
That was awesome. I heard it live on the air. At first I was like “Huh Whaaaa?” But that was a brilliant move by Stern. Smart lawyer. Basically, you can say whatever you want, and that stays out there especially in the online world, but it doesn’t make it the truth. And dare someone to sue for libel or slander for something like that. Credit Rome. He instantly got what Stern was getting at and didn’t take the bait. Maybe he did learn something from the Chrissy Everett years.
I doubt that was the intent. It was merely to remind Rome that he was asking a bad question for base reasons. Stern employed a classic troll move. Rome understood and said touche... You caught me cheating. Remember that this shit sport. And you gotta be a good sport. Rome likes to play in the edges of the rules of good sportsmanship because it keeps the clones locked in. But when Stern checked him he backed down. Rome knew enough to know that he bumped up on an old master and that it's best not to test the limits of his power.
This is exactly what happened and Rome said so immediately after the interview and acknowledged what had just happened. If Rome wanted to advance the narrative that the NBA regularly manipulated a tool designed to be neutral and a fair way to get bad teams better.....with no facts other than fan conjecture, Stern might as well turn the argument against Rome using the same tool. Stern was an a-hole, but he certainly wasn’t stupid, and Rome knew when not to continue on that path.
Bronny James/Sierra Canyon on ESPN 2 tonight while LeBron/Lakers will be on ESPN facing the Pels. Pretty special And Matt Barnes says Darren Collison and Doc Rivers didn't really get along when they were on the Clips years back, so advantage Lakers for his services.
At this point, it seems Rondo was only hot to start the season, but now he doesn't even finish layups and floaters anymore. And we know his defense is spotty. Rondo is definitely out. And Avery Bradey is hurt again. Yep..let's hurry and add Collison. 20 blocks last night, but obviously can't rely on that. I will say that somehow headband Caruso is even better than non-headband Caruso, so we have that in our favor
Remember when I said Kuz better have at least one bag packed? Kuz now receiving interest on the trade market..Lakers not shopping, but open and listening. Tomas Satoransky or Bogdanovic (SAC) are probably the most realistic/best returns we'd get. Maybe get a draft pick in addition, as well - which could be a key in freeing Iggy. Marc Stein@TheSteinLine Sacramento is among the teams that has tried to engage the Lakers in Kyle Kuzma trade talks, league sources say. The Kings know they would have to include sharpshooter (and soon-to-be restricted free agent) Bogdan Bogdanovic, for starters, in a Kuzma deal Ralph Mason@Ralph_MasonJr This Bogdanovic rumor + the Collison report suggests Rondo’s days as a Lakers rotation player might be numbered
You knew he couldn't just be a low key role player.. Shams Charania@ShamsCharania Superman is back: Lakers center Dwight Howard will participate in the NBA Slam Dunk contest at All-Star Weekend in Chicago, per sources.
South Bay Lakers@SouthBayLakers Talen Horton-Tucker (@Thortontucker) has been recalled by the @Lakers and is expected to join the team for their game against the Knicks
In terms of pure talent, would say they're either equal or Kuz has the edge. Kuz is still the guy who scored 40+pts through 3 quarters a couple times last year. Probably safe to say that Kuz has more potential on the defensive end, as well..better athlete, more length. But Bogdanovic is the better fit for what LAL needs to make the offense go, so I can understand the interest. Better ballhandler/playmaker, more consistent shooter. And Kuz just isn't going to reach his full potential without maxing out on touches
Bogi Bogdanovic was out - sick - yesterday, and Horton Tucker got called up, so people are drawing conclusions - thinking a deal may be coming down at some point soon. Not sure if I wouldn't rather have Satoransky in return, and just see Kuz off to the eastern conference. Bogdanovic = Satoransky, basically
