dude hasn’t seen any action yet, but idiotstick already has a nickname for him… “I think for Yarbs there’s going to be opportunities to start, other opportunities to come in and pitch the bulk of a game. He’s done them both,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “From what I’ve heard, he prefers to start but ultimately he’s going to do what we ask and that’s the most important.”
Hilarious. Not sure why Grovesy is starting today over "Yarbs", but The Scarecrow must have his reasons. After all, no sense giving playing time to someone who has momentum over one who doesn't, right?
Sounds like Grove will open and then Yarbrough will get innings. Grove better be on a really short leash, otherwise this one could be over early.
Barnes is not in the lineup, which normally is a good thing. But he's sure to start in a couple days against a pitcher he's had no success against - book it.
The times I can do this are few and far between, but I'll give Dave credit for a relatively well-managed game yesterday. I think his timing on pulling Miller was optimal. I didn't like using Vesia in that situation, but overall his moves worked out. And then next game he can't help but self-sabotage. Snell vs Grove should not be a thing. And hasn't somebody on his staff brought him Barnes' numbers vs Snell? The one game this season that the numbers justify giving him a start. We'll see, maybe Smith and Grove will surprise - I just don't like the odds.
