Reading a very good book about the Dodgers in the 50's, right up until the move. It struck me that Don Newcombe, truly a great pitcher, who was 27-7 in 1956, was considered a "choke", by some, because he lost WS games...and after he lost the 7th game in 56, he was so distraught, he became an alcoholic, and his career was essentially over. He was CY and MVP, and never made it to the Hall. Unavoidably, I though about CK. In fact, there is much in this book that dispells lots of beliefs about The Bums. Yes, indeed. Lots. We get Vinny's version of back in the day, but everyone liked Vinny, and he liked everyone else. But in reality, apart from Vinny, it was far from that. Another reason it was so great to hear and see "Oisk" today.
Check this one out. You'll love it. Really delves into the complex relationship between Campy and Jackie. https://www.amazon.com/Campy-Two-Lives-Roy-Campanella/dp/1416547045
