    Forgot all about Peralta.
Tomas and his reckless driving this off-season, doing 100+ in the AM and getting locked up..yeah, they may be getting ready to spin him off somewhere.
    DH is calling

No one better defensively, but a complete liability with the bat.

The rule is dumb, but giving Angel Hernandez an excuse to kick you out of the game doesn't make you a badass. Pro tip: if you are Wilson Contreras catching your team's newest pitcher and you are mixed up on signs, just ask the batter what that pitcher is going to throw. He knows.

    Also, fuck the Cubs.

What's going on with Verdugo? He's a guy the FO has been hesitant to move, but is still pretty low on the depth chart. Think he spends a lot of time in AAA this year?

    In before " it wasn't Puig's fault! :sobbing: "
But yeah, LAD gets Kiermaier and doctors everywhere will recommend Harper in RF after this season

That's a bit harsh. He's above average. Not by a ton, but by enough given his position and level of defense.
His walk rate has gone up significantly the last couple years, nice for a plus baserunner.
Didn't even look at BR last night before I said he's a .760 OPS type and that's actually what they project from him this year..about 20pts above the average ML'er.
Don't think he'll slug .450 again, but he's done it 2 out of the last 4 years..safe bet is .430-ish
    OBP, .330-ish

    Marlins sign Cameron Maybin
That'll teach Bryce Harper to run his mouth

I guess any prospect may be a stretch, maybe...but I would love to insure Cody at first base at all costs.
It's all circuitous at best, but a lot depends on Taylor, imo, whether he is the arisen beast as he surely was last year, and additionally, his glove. I think he is a fine athlete, but have no idea where they eventually have designs on him to play.
I think Belli as the heir apparent at 1b, is something the LAD need to cement.
If Keirmaier makes that happen, pull that trigger if the opportunity appears.

remember when he was going to be a shot in the arm for us?
don't think he managed to do anything
spring could change everything still it did seem like the team might have been disappointed
his value on the trade market had to take a hit

I don't know exactly why, but when I look at this guy out there, he makes me think of Pig Pen from Peanuts.
A little cloud of dust at his feet....

FWIW: Roberts told reporters this week that he doesn’t see them moving Cody off 1B so he’ll probably stay there for the most part

I cannot believe that Colby Rasmus passed the physical in Baltimore. Most incredible shit this off-season..outside of a player being fired by his agent.

Rays Unlikely To Further Tear Down Roster
    By Steve Adams

The recent string of subtractions by the Rays — Jake Odorizzi, Corey Dickersonand Steven Souza have all been moved in the past five days — has fans of other clubs hoping for a full rebuild and, thus, trades of Chris Archer, Alex Colome and/or Kevin Kiermaier. However, Tampa Bay GM Erik Neander and senior vice president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom both strongly suggested that such moves are unlikely tonight in separate interviews.

Archer and Colome, I can understand

Idk, he’s good depth and probably below Joc on the LF depth chart but above Toles cause of his injury. I think he’ll bounce between Triple A and MLB this year but get enough at bats to prove himself because of injuries/rest/suckiness. I do wonder what they think of him, his best skill is his contact but he doesn’t seem to have power yet which is concerning for the new “everyone hits home runs” game.

Houston Astros minor leaguer Forrest Whitley, the No. 9 prospect in all of baseball according to MLB Pipeline, has been suspended 50 games for a violation of minor league baseball's drug program, Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday.

    Whitley's suspension is without pay.

Whitley, 20, was the Astros' first-round pick in 2016 (17th overall).

Fyi, Dave said yesterday Bellinger will play 1B this year. Whether he meant exclusively, idk, but that's what it sounded like to me.
    Edit: Doyerfan said this already
