oh man... Morton gave him a pitch to tie this thing up
damn, wish they woulda got one more to make this a bit more interesting.
Not looking good for the gA's
think that's about it
Man... what could have been. We tried hard in '17 to get Pham and then he got hot as the deadline approached and the Cards pulled out of the deal.
Is there some sort of Jetstream in the stadium? They are legitimately hitting the ball hard, no question. But if those balls hadn't hit the batter's eye they would have traveled 450 ft to dead center.
they're murdering the ball right now.
I think Houston sweeps each of these teams
That was a perfect pitch, good god.
I wonder why this kid is one of the top LH pitching prospects in baseball...
Luzardo, Puk and Montas will be a formidable front 3 next year.
Tough to see a 97 win team have to call it a season after 1 playoff game, but when you have 4 teams over 100 wins, it should feel like a privelage for teams like Milwaukee, Washington, Oakland, and Tampa Bay to even have a chance. Back in the old days, there were 100 win teams who missed the playoffs entirely. We are just delaying the real matchups for a week.
A's swinging through or missing pitches right down the dick. Waiting until 2 outs to get a runner on is also not the best plan.
Let's also not forget that basically half of the AL was trying to lose as many games as possible this year which helped inflate those numbers. Fuck, the Astros were 18-1 against the Mariners as were the Indians over the Tigers. I don't think I ever remember remember anything like that happening before.
3-1 fastball in the sweet spot and Profar fouls it back. These guys did not come to play
Does anyone who follows the AL know WTF happened to Khris Davis? I thought that guy was good.
He got hurt in late May and was not the same hitter the rest of the season. I think he was battling something all year and it impacted him a good bit.
That game was anti-climactic... boooooo
Beane admitted that this was one reason they don't tank, generally.
While it is understandably frowned upon to be caught in the middle, there was a opportunity for 85-90 win fringe teams to grab 5-10 more wins in a league where everyone else is trying to lose.
