Quit being an interent toughguy. We might invite him to a lair event and then see what happens next! :maniac:
WHy, because the little boy can't back his own shit up? Oh wait...I see...Is he blowing you too now? Fucking little cheating fuck!
Quit being so hateful to me just because I don't fluff Kemp's pubic hair. I mean it. I'm only gonna ask once.
f youk is a great poster doesn't come here as much as he used to but is about the only remaining yankee fan that still does he can be abrasive, offensive, obnoxious, self-righteous, annoying, grating and obtusely narrow-minded... or, pretty much just like any one of us here the only difference is he likes the yankees :bryan:
I'd go to one the next time I'm in LA. I'm not going to fight anyone over baseball but I'll get drunk and talk shit with the rest if you.
The Red Sox have paid roughly 175 million the least three years and have not gotten one playoff game, thats the most money ever spent in that time frame for nothing. They wiped the trouble makers from the roster, brought in nobodys and are in first place. Thats completr failure at spending money. The dodgers took on the problems and are now in the same place. The Yankees for all the ups and downs have missed the playoffs once since '96. With how small playoff salaries are, just getting a few home games and being out bumps profits dramatically for the organization.
Yeah but what about when the Red Sox spent money and won a World Series, back in the PED era? Nobody, including the Yankees have had it work all the time...it does fail. The Yankess lately have not been the success they once were and spent more than ever. Now they are doing well, but not because of their high priced talent. Again, it's almost always dependent on the minor league system and player development. The Dodgers will be in great shape when that all falls into place, and it's headed in that direction.
I don't think the Dodgers taking on A-Gon and Crawford was/is a failure. Maybe Beckett, but it didn't seem like we'd get Adrian without taking him. It's not the Dodgers fault that Kemp/Ethier have been horrible and Hanley has had 9 ABs all year. Gonzo is one of the best hitters in the game, Crawford has been exceptional, and Punto has been wonderful as well. Now we're starting to learn that Beckett may have been pitching injured this year, so maybe he'll pitch better eventually (don't count on it). But to say the Dodgers are failing at spending money seems pretty silly. Ryu looks like a steal, Greinke will earn his paycheck barring injury, Gonzo/Crawford have been great, etc. If you're getting solid production from a player you spent a lot of money on, how is that a failure? Also, with the Red Sox, I highly doubt they stay close to first place over the period of this season. Huge over-achievements from a collective group. Plus, who knows how much Valentine fucked that team up last year.
It's something that goes beyond stats. Adrian just doesn't have leadership unless being the man to text the team owner to bitch about bobby v is being a leader. He's just content being what he is and what he currently is isnt worth over 20 million a year. He has no power and is just slapping his way over .300. Does that have value? Absolutely, but about half what he is paid. You can blame valentine for last year, francona for the year before that, mattingly now but the common factor is Adrian being the onfield leader of teams that suck.
We didn't get Agon to be the leader. We got him to compliment Kemp and the rest of the team. Now, Kemp isn'y playing well, but at least Agon is trying and helping the team.
I could really care less if someone is a leader or not if they're hitting .337. Slapping the ball? He's slugging over .500 and has an OPS of .915. Like MZA said, Kemp is supposed to be the face. He's playing awful, and look at the situation the Dodgers are in.
Then who is the leader? All teams that win have an onfield presence that motivates every guy in the locker room and I just don't see anyone on the dodgers roster who is doing it. Generally it falls on the highest salary or most experienced at the mlb level. IMO that's agon.
There is no leader. Ck and Kemp are groomed to be leaders, but like I said, Kemp is playing poorly and CK can only do so much.
What MZA said. Due to no one stepping up, the Dodgers are 7 games under .500. I think A-Gon is a leader behind the scenes but he's not very vocal. You don't have to be vocal to be a leader.
