September is just 2 weeks away, so its a good time to start calling on who will get the classic callup. Here's my list 1. Withrow (as he'll be optioned to make room for Wilson) 2. Dominguez 3. SVS 4. Sellers 5. The catcher they just got and I cant remember the name 6. Castellanos 7. Fife Reactions?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it just everyone on the active 40 man roster? http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/team/roster_40man.jsp?c_id=la
No. Sme of those guys have no big league time so they wont get called not to get their clocks started. Others are simple depth but will be of no real use (Im looking at you Matt Magill). Also, they dont call everyone as they dont want to disrupt the clubhouse too much with people that bring nothing to the table.
Herrera could make more sense than Sellers. Not sure about Guerra early on, but I can see it for when AAA is done.
Withrow should be on the roster before the call ups so they can be on the playoff roster. He'll probably go down for Wilson, but then come up ten days later for Dee so he's playoff eligible.
They can send him down and bring him back 9/1 and he'll still be playoff eligible because of flexibility we have with some 60 Day DL guys
This is the only wildcard I could see being called up, I think it's a fair possibility Besides him, we're gonna see Dee, SVS, Butera, Dominguez, Tolleson, Guerra (?), ETC
to be eligible he has to be on the 40 roster, which he is... that rule is for players acquired past the waivers trade deadline... as he will be on the 40 roster (because he is now) he is playoff eligible...
This will do a better job explaining than I will: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=14897 Basically: it's anyone on the 25 man PLUS anyone on the 15 or 60 day DL, nd we get to replace anyone on the DL with someone who is at least on the 40 man before 9/1. So, since we have bills, Beckett, and Elbert on the 60 man, that gives us three spots to use pitchers who might not be called up before 9/1 but are on the 40 man to be on the postseason roster.
yes, it matters, but our 40 man roster is already at 39 (without the 60 DL guys) and I seriously doubt they add guys to the 40 roster to call them up in the middle of a pennant race (that would mean no Zach, Pederson or Onelki). A guys that is on the 40 roster and I forgot is Peter Moylan who has a 3.03 ERA with 39 Ks in 32 inning for AAA. I dont think Tollerson gets the call as he is just coming back from an injury...
agree with nz don't want to fuck with the mojo too much some middle relievers for depth (guerra, tolleson) fine same w/some back-ups that have been here before -- (svs, herrera, castellanos) but no dee, no joc, no zach don't need the potential discord/disharmony speaking of which -- and i don't know why -- but i have this weird feeling wilson is going to fit in just fine here
I would be surprised if we add more than 4 guys. Playoff contenders don't fuck with chemistry and want to make sure they don't rely on larger rosters since they won't be able to in the playoffs.
