Yet there is a black hole at 3rd and believe me Seager is going to be at 3rd. Nothing in the minors other than corey of course and nothing in the foreseable future in free agency. Matt is a known commodity albeit with injury "issues" and should therefore command more than a 2 for 2 trade.
off topic, but... 26 years ago, today... 3-team trade; a's/mets/dodgers - a's get sp bob belch and rp matt young from dodgers - mets get rp jack savage from to dodgers, sp kevin tapani and sp wally whitehurst from a's - dodgers get ss alfredo griffin and closer jay howell from a's, rp jesse orosco from mets
if the Dodgers elect to add a good defensive SS and sign Hanley to a 5 year deal to play 3B....then what for Seager? all i'm saying is it's not as simple as you're making it. i don't even think Uribe is all that big an issue...they'll make him a backup quick. he's not good enough to say you'd pass on getting younger, better defensively @ SS.
Yeah, a bit of an quiet winter meetings but we're spoiled in that last year was insane... Shouldn't make moves just to make them and theres still PLENTY of time in the offseason to work on things. Remember how frustrated we were with Greinke seemingly taking forever but did sign like mid-December (I remember ppl were already wanting to strangle him!) but players/agents still have over a month to make decisions. All we really have is maybe an OF trade, MAYBE sign a SP (it's not a necessity, kinda a luxury if we want), a 3B, and a reliever or so. that's not much
when you're talkin " nothing " with Ned at the helm...you almost have to call that a win. lol i really just wanna see him get Uribe and JP back...maybe bring Mulder to camp to try for the long relief/Capuano role. i mean unless the clouds part and Seattle is ready to honker down and bang out a good looking trade. we know Tachibana's not talking to Tanaka until next week or so they say, so i'm prepared for silence on that issue.
@jaysonst: Matt Kemp's agent, Dave Stewart, says #Dodgers informed him today "they have no plans to move him." More to come at http://t.co/J9TlkjRmi3
Nats acquired a LOOGY from the A's which is good news for us as it takes away one team who is in the hunt for one. One less team we need to bid against. (Well, maybe... They could always get another I guess but it makes it less concerning for them)
at the very least, telling Stewart that they have no plans to trade Kemp could shut Stewart up. but as far as the message itself, it's basically a reminder. they've always said that they were only listening to offers on Kemp, not reaching out to teams in an effort to move him. i like the consistency...very Mitch Kupchak-like.
Crawford had a higher WAR (in 2/3 of a season) last year than Trumbo has ever had in his career. If we eat a bunch of money maybe we can get something interesting. Or maybe the Dbacks are just stupid.
ned must be frothing at the mouth i can picture stan talking him off the ledge... "stay calm, ned... now slowly step away from the phone... easy, easy..." Mariners are making some interesting moves as the added Hart and Morrison today. With Smoak finally having a good season, I wonder if they are looking to sell high on him or are considering Hart for the OF.
yeh, they aren't waiting around for Cruz and/or Kemp it seems. good job by them. not that Hart/Morrison can provide what Cruz/Kemp can.
