Are they going to address it in Australia or San Diego? Because the in house options suck!

Since this thread is here, let's use it to speculate on the bench.

    Right now it looks like:

    1. which ever OF isn't playing
    2. Fed-ex
    3. Dee? His stock isn't worth a lot these days.
    4. Young?
    5. SVS? Management doesn't seem sold on him.
    6. Sellars?
    Brendan Harris?

    Who else has a shot?

i forget the other guy they had thoughts about at 2B...hate to put it like this and look the racist part, but it was some latino fella...and no not Guerrero. it was some unknown guy. i guess a minor leaguer.

seems like SVS is gonna get squeezed out by Dee. Dee working at center in winter ball was a clear sign and then they have him in the mix @ 2B as well...looks like he's the new Schumaker for us. so Dee basically gives us a 5th outfielder. he did hit very well in winter ball while playing center mainly. maybe his mind is a little more clear out in the outfield as opposed to being on his toes and pressing in the infield. i'll be watching his splits closely as far as how he hits when he's at 2B and center.

Miguel Rojas is his name, very good glove but hitting is suspect.

He was a lookout in 2013, not on 40 man but could be invited.

oh ok. thanks. so Rojas is great with the glove and light with the bat, huh? if that's the case they should sign Figgins to a minor league deal and see what he's got with the glove in live action. Figgins has a little experience.

Padres Fielding Trade Calls On Logan Forsythe

By Jeff Todd [January 20 at 7:06pm CST]
The Padres have been contacted by multiple clubs with interest in utilityman Logan Forsythe, reports Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com (via Twitter). Forsythe, 27, has spent most of his MLB time at second, though he has also logged innings at third, short, and the corner outfield.
Last week, we learned that the Yankees had inquired with San Diego about a trade for an infielder, with Forsythe reportedly the most realistic subject of a possible deal. While other clubs with possible interest remain unknown, Forsythe's versatility makes him a reasonable target for many organizations. He swings from the right side of the plate, and carries a lifetime .241/.310/.349 line in 762 plate appearances over three seasons. Forsythe will be eligible for arbitration next year for the first time.
From the Padres' perspective, Forsythe clearly does not have a starting spot and may be somewhat redundant with fellow utility player Alexi Amarista. With several other depth options also under contract -- including Ryan Jackson, Brandon Wood, and Alberto Gonzalez -- the club could try to flip Forsythe for a southpaw bullpen piece or low-level

Before I am lambasted. Hear me out. Yes, I know he is in our division and that a trade may be impossible. However, he does fill a few needs at once. His D is not terrible. His OBP in the majors has not been overly eye catching. However, he was a machine in the minors. I have no idea if it could translate ...

    What think?

have to wonder how they views trades for 2nd baseman right now...would they view that as an admission that they missed on Guerrero? or maybe if Forsythe is gonna be mainly a utility play, maybe they'd like his age enough to deal for him and give him a chance. he was respectable in 2012, but he's had 2 terrible years. if he's an every other year guy, he may be due this year.

I don't think it would be a trade for a 2nd baseman, it would be a utility guy. I think the only way Guerrero doesn't start at second is if he blows a hammy or something. Or forgets how to throw a baseball, a la Steve Sax. I know nothing of Logan Forsythe, the player with two last names, but my question is what do we give up? Second tier minor league arms? What would it take?

I would've liked to bring back Punto and Skip but they got paid some good contracts for what they do. Plus now maybe we can open a spot or 2 for a minor leaguer to come up and show what he can do.

It'd like some defensive minded versatile players on the bench. Not Dee Gordon
