You gotta do what you gotta do for the sake of the team. I had Chris try to seduce Prince into coming here this year and we all know how that went.

low risk could actually prove to be a good acquisition not a lot of pop but has some speed 2yr AAA BA of .266 but .296 before that logan must have been involved in this
Anyone who gas a career .723 OPS is the minors is garbage, , unless they are stealing 45+ regularly, play dynamite D and have a BA consistently over .300.

Just a guy for depth, nothing crazy Plays great D, and runs well... a 5th OF who can be used for minimal things
Don Mattingly High On Dee Gordon by Eric Stephen on Feb 26, 2012 TrueBlueLA Dee Gordon was one of the first Dodgers position players to show up in camp at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, having been here for over a week already, with the first reporting day not until Monday. Manager Don Mattingly likes the second year shortstop at the top of the batting order, and sees a ton of potential."We really just think he's going to get better and better. This kid can hit. Obviously we want him to walk a little bit and be able to work a pitcher, and we saw him able to do that a little better as the season went on," Mattingly said on Sunday. "He came back the second time, off that injury, he was a little more patient, understanding when to take a pitch and when to be more aggressive. As he knows the pitchers a little better, we are going to see a guy who grows."Gordon hit .302/.325/.362 in 56 games with the Dodgers in his rookie season, and did show improvement in his second stint with the club. In his first time in the big leagues, last June, Gordon hit .232/.250/.280 with two walks and 16 strikeouts in 85 plate appearances. After he was recalled on July 31, Gordon hit .345/.367/.408 with five walks and 11 strikeouts in 148 PA."Obviously you want a guy up there who gets on base a lot. His speed definitely profiles [at leadoff]," Mattingly said of Gordon, who had a .355 on-base percentage in four minor league seasons. "It's a time issue with Dee. I don't think we can say, 'We want you to walk.' I think we want to let him hit, let him be himself, and let him progress into the role."Gordon worked in the offseason on his defense with Barry Larkin, and also went to Texas to work with bench coach Trey Hillman as well. Mattingly called Gordon's speed "dynamic" and praised his work ethic, saying, "That's kind of what we love about Dee, that he's always trying to get better and keep working.""He doesn't scare us in any way," Mattingly said of Gordon. "We expect him to make some mistakes, we expect him to not be the perfect guy right now. We expect him to keep getting better and let that ability shine."
Dee Gordon needs to fucking take a walk then ill buy him being our guy. he can hit .300 all day but it'll be empty and ill lowkey hate him
agreed take some pitches not only will you help the team you'll get better pitches to hit oh yeah cut down on that big swing as well
not sure he has that big a swing, but yeah he should figure out he has no power and never will. i mean, as long he hits .290 and plays some good D then he's valuable. but if he could possibly have a .360-370 OBP then he's a top 5 shortstop
In order for a leadoff hitter to to be successful in stealing bases, he needs to have an above-average, patient #2 hitter following him. Who would be the best candidate for that role on the current roster?
Someone mentioned that Ellis (2nd base type-- I hate having two guys with the same name on a team) has great OBP numbers as a 2 hitter. I did think of Loney in the second half. If he would be more picky, you could let Matt hit after him and move Ethier to 4. But, as of right now ETHIER is the best number 2 hitter we have. He is made for the spot. Sadly, we just have no one to protect Matt.
We really don't have one realistically. Mattingly will end up putting Mark Ellis there (who doesn't get on base). Let's face it: Dre's hitting third, Sands/Rivera would hit lower in the lineup to add some depth there, and Loney will hit fifth. Ellis will hit second until Mattingly is forced to move him.
