How did Cespedes not get corralled?

He sure seemed to perform in the clutch.

I rank irish's rushed decision to merge all the threads up there with Torre's decision to suspend Utley.

KOUFAX, I always turn to you for great, in-depth analysis. I gotta say, you delivered once again.

Teams like the Dodgers, Cardinals and Rangers were all beset by injuries, but made it through the year thanks to fantastic depth. Once you get to the playoffs though, you need your stars to be there for the bright lights. Molina, Holliday, Wainwright, Carlos Martinez, Adams and Garcia were either out or playing hurt for the Cards. We had Puig, Grandal, Ryu, AGon, SVS all out or playing hurt. Things are probably drastically different with these two clubs healthy.

Thanks, I have lurked in here a bit this year. My observation is that like a lot of teams we don't have the identity we use to. Free agency and trades can be a blessing and a curse. Dre, Ellis, Kershaw, Kenley SVS are Dodgers, others are newbies and short or long term rentals. Turners success began with us and if he stays a few more. Puig, Pederson etc are young Dodger newbies as more come up it will be more tradition. DBB and Mac are coaches with strong identification elsewhere. With some great young talent in the minors we only need to give it a few years for transition.

    • Greinke has an opt out clause in his contract after this season, which he is expected to exercise. But that shouldn't be taken as a sign Greinke doesn't wish to re-sign with the Dodgers. When asked if his hope was to return with Los Angeles next season, he responded, "That'd be nice."

Yeah, I figure by 2019 we'll be back in the NLCS again. We'll lose, but I don't see us back, at least next year, at all. Possibly a WC berth...maybe that would actually be good. But not as division champs, especially if Greinke walks...and after this fiasco, why wouldn't he ?
After all the BS spewed up here about roster construction and how clever it all was, we are losers again, like always. It still boils down to "go and get and don't trade away the guys I like...no way". I guess that's what web sites are for.
I think there will be way more competition next year in the NLW.
I sure don't see us leading the NL , or second - whatever we were, in HRs again...and that was such a part of the season for us.
Where the fuck were they in the Mets series, while Greinke was giving up his share?

What'd Mark Cuban do? He isn't even affiliated with the Dodgers.
