20$ mil is the max it could be. Again, maybe they did but when you're already predetermining they overpaid it seems like this is all a short debate
Considering the track record of Asians who come over to pitch in the majors I am optimistic about the signing but won't get too excited until I see him. I do agree the rotation does look more solid 1-5 than it did last year. Nice to see some positive dodger related news to end 2015.
Gotta say that our rotation looks deeper than last year. Our #2 and #3 guys (kaz and kenta) I suppose you could call average. But our #4 and 5 guys (ryu and Anderson) are quite good. When you consider CK is the best #1 that's pretty solid. Bolsinger as the long man/spot starter until McCarthy comes back. Really think this signals a wood trade. Get a good reliever and im sated
Dan Szymborski @DSzymborski 3m3 minutes ago Nice job on makeup assignment, Dodgers - Maeda projects as second best NPB pitcher behind Otani. -------------- 3-year projections for Maeda.
I like it alot Hopefully we don't actually end up getting stuck with him for 8 years lol but if he puts up this production the first half of the contract fuck it
With those projections, Kenta has a combined WAR of 11 over a 3-year period, or an average of 3.66. Now who knows how close he gets to that, but if he gets to that, it would be great. For reference, Greinke from 2010-2014 (excluding the monster year last year), averaged 3.34 WAR per season. Over his career, he has a 4.05 WAR average. For those not excited, that should make you feel much better.....or you can continue to be depressed and bitch.
I don't think it's gonna be 8 guaranteed years, Joel Sherman said it was "at least 5 years" so maybe it's 5 guaranteed and a few vesting options that allow to total $120M over 8 years or something, plus some incentives for innings in each individual year.
Haha come onWho the fuck would get so excited over a projection? It's a pitcher, who has never pitched in the league and pitches on an extra days rest his entire career. Until he puts up 11 WAR over three years, keep it in your pants. I like the signing. Deep rotation. Hopefully a trade is brewing with the extra stock to get someone for the playoff rotation (if we make it.)
He is not going to be that good, probably on average as good or nearly as good as Kuroda. If he gives us a 3.66 ERA over a 3 year period we would be so lucky.
It accounts for that, notice it has 26 starts, not 32 or 33, that said, you're right, it is just a projection for someone who has never pitched at this level.
I really don't think a trade is necessary. I mean, maybe it happens and i do think it could be a serious problem if all 6 guys are healthy and then some others are MLB ready and healthy, but we've seen year in and year out that pitchers get injured a lot and every MLB team needs 8-10 starters. The problem is that of course you can't perfectly time the injuries and maneuver the depth when they're all at the MLB level but hopefully these guys think of a good solution for it other then trading away a guy for the sake of it I will say that if there seems to be one strength of the FO it's selling players, so I won't be too scared in trading away a starter. We can debate on and on about there lack of skills in obtaining players but the best moves thus far have been gettin good value selling players
